the world would genuinely be improved if places like facebook, twitter, instagram, tiktok, etc. were all shut down

just food for thought.

if i did not have internet access i would be easily dead right now because i am in a total abuse situation and using the internet as a minor allowed me to get education on subjects my mom purposefully sheltered me from because of her "religious beliefs" (thinly veiled queerphobia) nor would i have ever learned about my mom being abusive in the first place and would have continued to take out my anger on myself til it escalated.

plus marioboards would have never met me and i think that's a bit sad.

I just think a rule or law like that would be too strict, especially since as Veneer said social media can teach you more about important trends and facts about the world. It can be horrible for people's mental health though. How I use social media doesn't impact my mental health much since I just use this site, and Instagram to post polls my friends can vote on. But like 4 1/2 years ago where I was using Instagram just to see what seemingly super cool things people were up to it where I couldn't make any content myself started to really hurt my mental health as I felt left out.

@Veneer you could find out that information without social media, like there is literally more to the internet than just shitholes like twitter and facebook + forums like marioboards aren't social media

this! everything in moderation! anything in excess is bad. ban the companies purposefully making social media algorithms addicting and not the people using them.
