I totally agree with you, dude. There's a time and place for everything, politics included, but places like the Mario fandom, or heck, even the Total Drama fandom are NOT the place for such things. They're generally boring and drama-inducing, and they generally just cause a lot of infighting that I hate to get caught up in, so it'd definitely be for the best that politics be left out of this forum.

There are some areas where political discussion and video game discussion naturally intersect, such as when global events effect the availability or price of games, and how some governments censor or ban video games. For that reason, I don't think that politics should be entirely banned here, but contentious political issues are definitely more prone than other discussions to turning toxic and making the community less appealing to be in.

Fortunately, there are rules in place to prevent things from getting too out of hand.
