Microsoft probably felt the opposite. They have very little first or second party support for their systems, so by acquring Rare, they can directly influence the games that are being released for their consoles.
Again, I will remind everyone that Nintendo sold Rare. They felt Rare's influence was waning and allowed Microsoft to buy the company. So I'm pretty sure Nintendo won't buy Rare back, especially if BK3 fails, as that's what Nintendo was trying to avoid in the first place.
We could form a unified Banjo-Conker wiki, as both stemmed from Diddy Kong Racing and are a part of the Extended Marioverse (unlike other Rare franchises).
However, in the new Super Mario Advance 3: Yoshi's Island instruction booklet, it states that both brothers were born that morning. That means they are the same relative age. Mario must have been born before Luigi, as stated in other sources, but they were born the same day canonically.
On a...
I know in Earthworm Jim 2, Jim finds Bob the Goldfish then the word "FIGHT!" appears on the screen. However, instead of fighting, Jim just eats Bob and continues.
If can't be a major difference in age between Mario and Luigi. They were both toddlers of the same age and skill in Partners in Time. Also, in Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island, the babies were born that morning and then the stork headed to the Mushroom Kingdom to deliver the babies. They were...
I do like the idea of having the wikis correlate to the Mario Wiki in some form (even via the Super Smash Bros. series, like Star Fox). However, other wikis (such as the Homestar Runner wiki) can't really be a part of the Wiki Alliance. They are completely unrelated to anything in the alliance.
In regards to Star Fox, we cannot make the leap from the DK verse to the Star Fox verse. The only connection is two distinct and seperate characters called Tricky. The one from Star Fox Adventures is likely an homage to the one from Diddy Kong Racing, but they are not the same character. There...
The Virtual Console is a part of the Wii. It allows gamers to download (from the internet) classic Nintendo games from the NES, SNES, and N64 and play them on the Wii!
That Blooper is likely in the same vein as the Lakitufo. While not Shroobified, it is of alien origin. The closest thing to an aquatic attack force is the Shrooba_Diver, which actually swims on dry land. However, you must consider that the Shroobs had no need for a naval force as their airforce...
I've been thinking about a Yoshi wiki and quickly realizing that it would be too difficult to organize one. Yoshi and Mario are just so interelated. Whereas Wario and Donkey Kong went their own ways with their own unique enemies and locations, the Yoshi franchise is very much rooted in the...
The problem is we can't just assume Mario was off doing something and that's why he wasn't somewhere else. That's just fanon. We are trying to create a canon wiki. However, you are welcome to post your ideas on your user page.
If you do create a spin-off wiki of the Marioverse, we should coordinate efforts between the two. Mario will be the primary wiki, with other wikis branching off. They are still a part of the Marioverse and the wikis should reflect that. However, other video game wikis should remain independent...
You cant assume that some things happened the same times as others. What would be best is a timeline of the major events in respect to individual characters and franchises. Whose to say that games that dont feature the same characters take place at different intervals in respect to the other...
A filler character is basically a character created to be someone else's partner and to give players more otions when choosing a character. They typically lack originality. For example, Waluigi is just the "Luigi version" of Wario, who was created to be a tennis doubles partner. Toadette is the...
Umm.....Conker's Bad Fur Day came out for the Nintendo 64. There was drinking, swearing, and guns, all under Nintendo's watch. In the X-Box version, the swearing was censored. What I'm trying to say is, when Microsoft took Rare and Conker, the Conker series was already M-rated. If anything...
Some things just don't fit into a general timeline. The best we can do is to put the games in order of release, unless otherwise specified by the story (i.e. Super Mario World 2: Yoshi's Island is the first Mario game as Mario was born just prior to the events of the game).
As I have argued before, Donkey Kong is a part of the Extended Marioverse. The DK series is a spin-off of the traditional Marioverse and as such deserves a place in the wiki, but only of secondary importance, as it is seperated by one "degree". The majority of our work should go towards...
I probably won't, as I have remained loyal to Nintendo for about 15 years. I wouldn't mind owning an X-Box or PS3, it's just that I don't want to waste my money on those systems and games when I know I can get quality from Nintendo. However, I do miss Banjo and Final Fantasy....
Rare still makes games for Nintendo, but usually for the handheld systems. I must also point out that Nintendo sold Rare, as the larger company felt Rare's influence was declining. They therefore decided to sell to Microsoft, the other major shareholder of Rare, to at least make some money out...
Mario Party has really gone down hill over the years. It's hard to pick a favorite character, as they basically have all the same abilities and traits. They just look different, that's all.
Super Mario 128 is not really a video game. It may have been intended to be one many years ago, but now it has become more like a developing tool. I think elements of Super Mario 128 are present in both Super Mario Sunshine and Super Mario Galaxy. The goal of the Super Mario 128 is to explore...
The problem with the Super Mario Bros. movie is that the only people that would really want to see it are the Nintendo nerds. As such, when they actually see the movie, the nerds become really disappointed that the film didn't capture the essence of the video games. The movie is kind of a cult...
