Here it is. I decided to use a simple background pattern, as I thought it looked the best, even while cropped or with text laid on top of it. It uses icons associated with 'Shroom sections that I've written. The nail represents Picross, the microphone represents Monthly Inquisition, the Super...
While I don't have anything major to show this time, I made a bunch of small things recently.
To start, I revamped my signature yesterday. I think the last time I updated it was in 2021, so it was in sore need of a refresh. I replaced the old Goombuigi logo (which was simply my name written in...
I don't think so. Nintendo doesn't generally do hardware announcements in Directs (outside of themed versions such as the Mario edition Switch). The Switch, Switch Lite and Switch OLED have all been announced via standalone videos / presentations, and I think the same will be true with the next...
I tried out the demo and thought it was alright. I've played the original GBA game (though I've never completed it), but like the Super Mario RPG remake, this is very faithful to the original. I really enjoyed the jazz-style soundtrack when I played through the demo, I'm definitely gonna listen...
I played Game & Watch Gallery 3 on NSO once and really liked the music for the Greenhouse minigame in particular.
And as I tend to do with any music that I like, I searched up the music on YouTube and found an arrangement of it that I enjoyed, which I'm listening to right now:
Today I stumbled across something bizarre. So, I searched my name up on Google, just for fun, and I stumbled across a TikTok account by the name of "goombuigi" (I didn't make this account, I don't know who did), and the profile picture of it is my art of Goombuigi with the "Bugs" expression, of...
So, I was nostalgically browsing through old threads, as I often like to do, when I stumbled upon this post I made three years ago (fittingly, predicting what the start of 2024 would look like):
Personally, it feels kinda surreal to read, especially since 2024 felt like a fairly distant future...
F-Zero 99
I've been playing a lot of F-Zero 99 lately, it's a pretty fun racing game. I'm a fan of its futuristic visual style, and I like the soundtrack. As a result, I've been listening to a lot of F-Zero remixes as of late.
I made an account on the wiki to write for The 'Shroom, pretty much. I made ten random edits so I could make my own user page, and then I proceeded to never edit the wiki again (except for one edit I made back in the day because it was in The 'Shroom Spotlight).
With Issue 202 comes a new issue of The Mariospective, this time reviewing Donkey Kong Jr. I was honored to see the previous issue make it to Poochy's Picks, so thank you! (Also, I just realized that I've now written for every 'Shroom team except for Strategy Wing. Sorry, Strategy Wing.)
From what I can tell, no one else joined for a couple days either, until October 17th. I'm guessing that Porple didn't share the forums publicly until the 17th.
I did a portrait of Wright Forde 'Shroom's dad, so, naturally, I made a portrait of Wright Forde 'Shroom's mom, Rita 'Shroom, next. Her profession is as an independent novelist, so I tried to reflect that in her attire.
I also want to make more portraits, so I'd like to try making portraits of...
First post of the year in this thread! I made yet another portrait, this time of Shelford 'Shroom, Wright Forde 'Shroom's dad. He's a mechanic for a living, hence his appearance. I used WFS' portrait as a base, and worked from there. As usual, I made two versions of his portrait, with and...
I'd recommend using the sandbox to test out wiki formatting, it may help with familiarizing yourself with it. You can use the preview button to see what the formatting looks like.
Are you talking about formatting images and adding horizontal lines to forum posts, or for The 'Shroom? The 'Shroom and the forum use different formatting. For The 'Shroom (which uses wiki markup), the code ---- adds a horizontal line, as shown here. The wiki also has a page which explains how...
Well, this'll be my last post of 2023 (in my timezone, at least). While I don't have any art to share this time around, I've compiled all the art I've posted in this thread into a Google Drive folder, organized into sections, which makes it more convenient to sift through rather than this...
I really like Wii Rainbow Road, but I still think Mount Wario is my favorite track. It feels like a journey, jumping out of a plane to the peak of a mountain, then proceeding though a cave, a forest, and finally an Olympic-like descent before finishing with a full crowd surrounding you.
Apologies for not posting anything yesterday - I had something planned, but didn't complete it in time.
As for today, since it's 'Shroom day, I have some 'Shroom-related stuff to share - specifically, relating to my new section, The Mariospective. Firstly, here's the logo I made for the...
Long time, no see! It's been over a year since I've last written for The 'Shroom, but I'm back with a new section called The Mariospective. It's a series of reviews of Mario's legacy games that are on NSO. Here's the first section, reviewing Donkey Kong.
In addition, the original post should be...
So, remember this post I made a year ago (almost to the dot, coincidentally)? Well, I actually ended up making more artworks based on Mario NES games back then - alongside Donkey Kong, I did Donkey Kong Jr., Mario Bros., Pinball and Donkey Kong 3. I never posted them (that seems to be a...
I don’t have much to share today, but here’s some more portraits from a while ago. Firstly, here’s a couple portraits I made for Don Wright Forde ‘Shroom, back in 2022.
Since he was conceptualized as an alter-ego to Wright Forde ‘Shroom, his mushroom cap and suit use an inverted color scheme of...
Fun fact, this is my first post on the Boards ever from my laptop. Anyway, here’s some Awards-related stuff. So, back in 2020, I made a presentation (specifically, M12 - Favorite Supporting Character) that featured pictures styled like Super Smash Bros. reveals. I actually still have the files...
Given that we already have four Mario games announced for 2024, I don't expect much in the way of more announcements. To be honest, as far as the Switch goes, I'm not sure what they could even do outside of what they already announced. I still think a sequel to Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker...
As I've been digging through my archives, I stumbled upon something I worked on back in April 2021 - a set of icons of 8-bit style Mario characters. I don't recall what I made these for (who knows, maybe I just made then out of boredom), but I made 27 of them. So, here they are.
I've been on a portrait roll lately, as I've finished Wright Forde 'Shroom's portrait earlier than I thought I would. But before I get to the new portrait of WFS, here's a couple of portraits I did back in 2022, but never posted here.
The first image is a front-facing portrait of WFS that I...
Well, not even a day later, I already revised it. The way the rim of the hat looked on the right side seemed off to me, so I rectified that. I also altered the left pupil a bit so that Goombuigi stares directly into your soul at you. This should hopefully be the final revision (and hopefully I...
Here's my first post in this thread of the year (about time). I had planned on making a big post on everything I've made but not yet posted in this thread, but there's a lot, so instead, I'll do small daily posts for the next few days.
To start, here's a revised portrait of Goombuigi.
The...
I beat Super Mario RPG (the remake) the other day.
I played the original game on Wii U Virtual Console back in 2018, but I never beat it. I got stuck on the Smithy boss fight because Super Mario RPG was my first RPG, and so I was bad at RPGs. I found the remake easier, though I'm not sure if...
So far it's been Paris, London, Berlin and New York for me. I'd like to visit other European cities though, given my relatively close proximity to them.
As for how I feel about them in Mario Kart, I don't have many thoughts relating to the representation of each city, because frankly, I'm not...
I'm back, sorta.
I've been inactive on here for most of this year for various reasons - in particular, I've been busier than ever with school (I started university not too long ago), I've been focusing on other projects and hobbies of mine, and general burnout. I've been feeling kinda burnt out...
Not gonna lie, I got a bit emotional when I finished all of the tracks. This Mario Kart game that I've played for 7+ years since the Wii U days has finally come to a close.
I'm signing up Wright Forde 'Shroom.
