@Rafaknight_rk on Twitter is a 3-D artist who does a lot of Sonic the Hedgehog and Megaman comic covers for IDW and Archie Comics. He posted a few Mario facial renders today with *gasp* expressive faces! At the moment, the post has 8.8k likes on Twitter.
Well, he said "weird" faces, but still.
This would be an amazing wind-up toy. Wind it up and Waluigi's head starts walking. No worse than teeth on legs!
Actually, no worse than those hideous noses either...
I WANT A WALUIGI NOSE ON LEGS.
I've been playing Super Mario Sunshine ever since it came out. I thought I had done all the glitches there were to do. But today, I opened up a save file with 60 Shines on it. Start at Delfino Plaza. Headed straight for the rocket nozzle. I think I took a dive into it. Somehow, somehow, I got...
OK, here's tonight's batch of work:
Clipped his tongue back, made his eye more creepy, did some all-around work, and wrote a note that there's going to be that yellow goop from World of Light spraying everywhere.
Then I flipped it around- I kinda like it better that way. Then I started...
So a lot changed today- I had a whole hour to work on it!
I like where it's going. I need to work on the lighting more and set it up so that his red eye is the crowning feature.
Also, I'm not sure about his tongue. It might get chopped or painted out altogether. I'll have to mess with it...
So I was working on some turns today, for an original character. I have a love-hate relationship with turns. Trying to get better at those.
But then I felt the need to start working on something really, really fun.
So we have the beginnings of a hopefully terrifying Bowser from World of Light-...
LGM is right, you have to practice a lot. I actually am quite obsessive about bones and muscles when it comes to understanding things, so I actually am in the process of drawing and learning hand bones. I think that helps a lot.
Having taken a class under Jason Seiler, in which we painted realistic portraits, part of the observations drawn about men's faces is that they tend to appear bluish/greenish on the chin because of the hair underneath. I generally paint dudes that way and this was not unintentional at all...
Yeah that was just for the avatar. I uploaded the black and white version when I signed up, and then decided that it was too bland, so I brought it into Photoshop and slapped a couple of color layers on it and some lens flares in his eyes.
Edit: there was always this piece of fan art that I...
Thanks, I appreciate that.
I moved to the modern century and have an Instagram and Twitter now. Can check out those links in my sig. I have one thing on Instagram and it's not that great, but if you stay tuned, I will hopefully get some solid designs done. I want to post once a week, at least...
Um... yes? Like you mean by not tracing or anything? Yeah! I did it on digital, I'm not like, this amazing oil artist or something. Digital is way easier for painting stuff. Here's some screenshots I took while I was working on it:
It started out like this: (A veritable Mona Lisa, I know.)...
That is a skill I'm interested in learning, yes. As a career option- probably not, but then again, I haven't tried it. There's a class by Kris Pearn I can take and I really should do that as soon as I can.
Aww, thanks! Hopefully I will find another idea for a painting in the future.
I want to be a visual developer/character designer "when I grow up" (17 is that awkward stage lol) and so I try to do a lot of art that has to do with that career.
Because of that, I don't normally decide "today I'm going to sit down and draw Mario." Most of these drawings are accidents or...
I like Double Dash. Although I am 17 and Double Dash was the Mario Kart I grew up with...
Would I want to see it return? Yes. I want to try racing with Rosalina and DK in the same kart. I also always liked the mechanics of switching characters before hitting an item block depending on what I...
New headcanon, the Smash Piranha Plant is actually a Goomba wearing yellow shoes with a Piranha Plant pot on his head. They are best friends and they got into Smash as a team.
Oh, I don't know. I think the Wii sales attest to the fact that motion controls are a good idea and rather popular. Just not my cup of tea. I prefer a controller. I did say "The motion controls are bad in my opinion", but my opinion doesn't have to work for everyone. *Shrugs*.
That said, I...
In training mode, usually Meta Knight. Sometimes Little Mac in Smash 4. I don't know why, but it satisfies me to beat them up. I don't hate either of them.
I didn't like Power Tennis on the Wii. The motion controls ARE bad imo.
But then again, I am a Gamecube child, so. If you are used to swinging your arms around instead of using a controller, Power Tennis will be just fine for you.
I haven't played most, either. Truly a tragedy.
One of the few that I have played: Mario Superstar Baseball, I highly recommend. If your Wii plays GC games then it's definitely a must to find and play.
Here is my half-finished Rainmeter desktop. The base of it is not mine, but I programmed in some program icons and turned the fighter slots into picture slideshows.
I may just have to give up and start a fan art thread.
I'm working on an original painting, but I took a break and sketched this. I've been learning about shape language from Stephen Silver and wondered if it would apply to the Mario Bros.
Just looks like a bad modeling job to me. Even on his face it kinda looks like someone couldn't quite get it to smooth out. That and the dirty shading they used.
Scratch that, I shouldn't say bad... it's better than I can do... "unrefined."
Except maybe I take back the part about the bad...
*Que evil laugh*
I actually saw the most insulting thing. I was on one of those wikias, and they have those clickbait articles at the bottom, you know? One of them was headlined "Mario Fans are Freaking Out About Bowsette."
As a Mario fan, I was insulted. Unless they meant freaking out in a bad...
Granted, raw ice cream appears in midair and falls on your floor. You now have to clean it up and will have ants tomorrow.
I wish that I was good at writing.
I think it's hilarious how strange things happen because of deadlines. Indiana Joe wasn't an animation error, but it seems to me that because of deadlines the art department just kinda... didn't do a face. So when it got passed on to the animators, there was no face, and they just rolled with it.
So Imma go out on a limb and show you all how much of a newbie I am to this forum and ask... what are the stars above my avatar and how do I get more of them?
Thank you!
