I know I haven't been here basically at all in like a month so let me just say there's a couple reasons for it. For one, over the course of October, I had a really big dropoff of my actual interest in being here so I decided to just step back for a while.
But then November started with me...
I finally deleted my Twitter account last night. I hadn't been active on there in two years, only returning to retweet the same tweet about Allen Ludden every day on October 5. But now that I'm on Bluesky and they have videos, my Allen Ludden tradition can continue without me having to benefit...
I think in a way, it works just like developing relationships with anyone else. Like WT said, it's very heavily dependent on your personalities, but I'd also say it helps a lot to have common interests that you share. If those things start to clash, it's easy to build up a disliking for them...
Take Me Home Tonight - Eddie Money
It took me until just yesterday to add this to my playlist and I wish I had added it sooner. I underestimated just how much I like it.
Downsides of wearing a mask:
-I wear glasses. I think that says everything you need to know about that
Positives of wearing a mask:
-It has a Shy Guy on it and Shy Guys are always a positive
-I don't feel like I'm making other people sick when I start coughing
-I can lip sync and no one will...
Recently I've been absolutely obsessed with the em-dash. I've used it so much in my writing -- mostly because it's the punctuation form of getting distracted.
Ich möchte mehr Deutsch lernen. Eineinhalb Jahre sind nicht genug. Ich will zweisprachig sein aber manchmal muss ich Google Translate nutzen.
(I want to learn more German. A year and a half isn't enough. I want to be bilingual but sometimes I have to use Google Translate.)
What stories/authors did you look at in your high school English classes? I'm asking this because when I start teaching 101/102 (the introductory composition classes in college), I want to avoid the typical high school readings.
Today was actually pretty productive given that I had two classes, hung up two flyers and gave another one to the library to hang up themselves, and lined up two letters of recommendation for grad school.
So I have a modded Wii U but trying to run my mods on it is totally falling apart. Sometimes it doesn't work, sometimes it gets stuck in a loading loop, sometimes the mod software runs but doesn't work, and sometimes it just crashes for no reason. I'm starting to wonder if I should just replace...
I'm very ready for the summer to be over already. We've had so many insane heat waves including the one we had just this past week. The only issue is that September doesn't really change anything. We're still just as susceptible to insanely hot days as we are in July or August.
Time to wait an hour for a meeting that might not even happen because the person I'm trying to meet with is really unreliable about answering his emails.
I don't remember how the math came out but I think somewhere around this point in time is where I'll be able to say I've been on this website for half my life.
If you ever want to be extremely worn out, I highly recommend taking three 400 level classes and a Theory class all in the span of seven hours in the worst building on campus.
I can't wait for the day when I'm a tenured professor in creative writing and when my students get on a Zoom meeting with me while I'm not on campus, they'll just see Mario collectibles everywhere in the background.
What's funny is that there's totally a justification for it. If you start with number 1, Matt is the 25th Mii in the files, but since the actual IDs start with 0, if you asked for Mii number 25, you would get Mike.
Thank you for letting me share some of my unexplainable Mii knowledge.
Don't be surprised if you don't see me tomorrow like, at all. I have things going on at school basically all day and I'm fully prepared to be very tired by the time I get home.
I forgot about this song for a long time because it's inexplicably not anywhere to be found on Spotify but I still love it, even if it's the 1988est song I know.
I wrote this poll but I'm still going to give my opinion.
So I'm a big Wii person (I'm currently playing Wii Party as I type this) and I absolutely love myself some Super Sluggers or Sports Mix. I don't play either of them particularly often but if I had to pick one, I would probably say Sports...
So I'm very exhausted from having to be up early and then walk back home (which I haven't done all summer) so I'm going to take it easy for the rest of the day and wish you all the best for the awards.
Does the YouTube algorithm just absolutely love Crazy Cutter or something? I swear every single Mario Party Superstars video I see in my recommended has it in the thumbnail.
I like, Mandela effected myself into thinking this song was from the late aughts or early 2010s but no, it's from 1994. Probably has something to do with why I'm so into it.
So YouTube has started recommending me a bunch of music, but nearly all of it is songs from my Spotify playlist? I'm not sure if that's just a coincidence from YouTube having so much of my history or if it's actually reading my Spotify playlist.
E: I say nearly all of it but the songs that...
