Again, Nintendo is not the only producer that makes different games. The Xbox 360 and Playstation 3 have plenty of games that aren't shooters or driving games. Fighting games for example are pretty much exclusive to those consoles. The Wii only has Super Smash Brothers Brawl and fighting game...
To be honest, I only thought the babies were unique in Double Dash because of their special item. Nintendo did a good job in that regard. Otherwise, I always see them as younger Mario Bros. And for the most part, that's all they are. Mario is still the brave, adventurous person as a child...
You came up with all that while drunk and tired? Impressive. You are right though. Nintendo is not the only one who makes "kid-friendly" games. They don't only make those kind of games either. The Metroid series has always been a darker game, and Zelda has started to become much more mature.
Re: Fair Roster for futue Mario spinoffs?
Rage much? That is your opinion, and we aren't (well, I'm not) going to argue with it. But don't try to impose that on us. There are plenty of people here that disagree with this statement. You're just going to have to deal with it.
Not for a Mario game. He was the ultimate boss in the mainstream games. The final and most powerful evil being you had to face before saving the kingdom. I don't think that's much of a stretch.
In the (I'm assuming) great amount of time you've played Mario Kart Wii, how often do you actually pay attention to his hands? I'm including all the time you are just driving too.
Perhaps you aren't using the Banana and Green Shell to their fullest capabilities? They are very helpful in first place to slow down any potential overtakers. They are pretty difficult to use, but in my opinion they are the most satisfying to pull off. I love setting down a banana and hear...
Fire Emblem was the same way when characters appeared in Melee. Though, I'd argue that those games were produced by Nintendo (or at least, companies that are a part of Nintendo), so they actually had a chance. Geno's game was produced by Square, which is not affiliated with Nintendo (the game...
There are plenty of parts in the game that are done in a 2D view (I believe). It's somewhat similar to Kirby 64, as that game was in a 3D view, but was a 2D platformer.
I don't know if I'd take it that far, as there would be someone who would make an extremely popular game as Nintendo did (it could be Nintendo, actually, with another IP). If that didn't happen, video games would have probably been outdated long ago, or at least really unpopular.
You make a good point actually. While the Thunder Cloud is an item meant to help those in lower positions, it's the only item like that that can backfire if used incorrectly (well, it's the only assisting item that can backfire without being in first place), adding a small amount of skill...
I don't think the items you get in first are sucky (except for the item boxes). They can be very useful, especially in first place. Besides, you don't really need a Blue Shell (or Spiny Shell, whatever) in first place. That wouldn't make sense.
If Nintendo decided to evenly spread out the...
That depends on what you consider a 2D platformer. Since you didn't describe it in your original post, it's up to the voter to determine what that means.
That's the problem. If I may speak on the behalf of the OP, the item helps those players in lower positions (which you can assume are less skillful) and makes it easier for them to catch up. Players in higher positions therefore have to fight harder in order to keep their place.
I'm sure somebody thought it was a good addition. Anyways, I thought it just made the game more hectic to play. The way the items were chosen was (in my opinion) the culprit behind the punishing gameplay. Of course, it's been a few years since I've played, so I don't remember everything about...
I can agree with that. Many people just write it off as another golf game. It actually is just another golf game, but it's still a pretty good one. The golf part of it turns people off to it I guess.
There's attraction, and then there's love. They are two separate things. Women in Mario games tend to be infatuated with Mario, but not in love with him. It's basically his celebrity status tied with heroic qualities that have them interested.
I'll be honest, I'm neutral about this.
If they were to make the game though, they might as well add more characters. I guess Wario or Toadette or something.
Because we already had a copy of the first one with new levels. We don't need another. I'd rather not spend $150 just to play the same game three times.
Now if the Wii had DLC, I'd buy it.
Note the differences between each of those games (except if you're talking about Super Mario Bros. 2 in Japan, because it's essentially the same thing as the first). They were all different from each other. Super Mario Galaxy and its sequel were very similar to each other.
Baby Bowser doesn't count, as he's been in a few games, and was kind of the main villain (the man behind the man) of that game.
I love General Guy too. I loved how he was another leader of an army, but all of his followers actually followed him to the end.
The problem I have with another Galaxy game, is that it's going to be more of the linear levels like in Super Mario Galaxy 2. Because everyone rated the second one so highly, Nintendo will see that and make the next game contain more of the changes from the first one. I don't think they would...
This is a thread for all those bosses that are only bosses, but were so amazing you need to talk about them. I'm not talking about bosses that were only in one game (like Princess Shroob), I'm talking about bosses that you only fought once, and practically only saw in one part of a game. For...
Well, none of the Mario games are completely unique, but from what I've seen it looks like a combination of the 2D and 3D platformers, which is different from other Mario games.
(Honestly, I haven't been keeping a track on this game because I don't have a 3DS and probably won't have one in...
Hehe, the NO was directed towards the idea of a Galaxy 3, not whether or not it had Yoshi in it. I don't like the trend that Nintendo is having with the Mario platformers (if people like it, make another one with more stuff). I'd rather they come out with a new game entirely, like Super Mario...
Mario Party 3, for sure. It depends on what you're looking for in a Mario Party game. I prefer the minigames, so that's all I really play. Some people prefer the boards.
That's probably because of their acceleration. Because of the way Mario Kart is played, you'll be getting interupted in speed many times, so acceleration is key. Otherwise, you'll have to dodge every attack, and avoid the grassy areas or bumping into walls to be fast.
It was nice, actually. I liked the small aspect of strategy it involved. I picked Baby Luigi and Bowser Jr. so if I was in a bad area I'd have the Chain Chomp, and if I was in a good area I'd have the Bowser Shell. Plus, I got to pick from the Lightweight karts.
Yeah, I worded my post too strongly. Sony has a habit of taking ideas Nintendo has popularized and putting it in their own creations. I just don't like how they rarely come up with things themselves, but they do improve on the designs, so it does help the gaming industry. I have nothing...
Back in my day (read: a few years ago), people didn't need online multiplayer to play games. They played them with whatever friends they could find.
Other than that, the game was a very different take on Mario Kart, and I appreciated that.
They do pass off their characters to other third party developers sometimes, so I guess we get to see what they would do with them. Nintendo is the only first party developer that's doing unique things with their characters, so I don't think I'd like to see them in the theiving hands of Sony.
