I don't really watch Mario-specific channels, but I follow a few general gaming channels that cover a lot of Mario content. Namely The Gaming Historian, ExoParadigmGamer, and GameXplain.
I hate Prosafia's content with a passion, especially the "Evolution of X boss" videos that are really more...
Kirby Battle Royale
Been a bit busy lately, but I finally managed to conquer Silver League. The game still hasn't given me much of a challenge so far...but who knows, maybe that'll change in Gold League.
This. They even made an awesome remaster of it in Fortune Street Wii:
But noooo, instead they have to go use NSMBWii's un-legendary castle theme in NSMB2 and NSMBU.
I'm glad modding exists.
Personally I'd prefer Toad or Captain Toad for a Mario rep (seriously, why isn't he in Smash yet?) but Waluigi would be hilarious and undoubtedly a blast to play as.
And hey, at least he's more reasonable a request than Geno...
Onward and Sonic were awesome. Haven't been following that Mulan remake but from what I'm hearing above it sounds even worse than previous Disney live-action adaptations, so no thanks.
Good to see topics like this for once. It always feels better to look at what's gone well.
So, as I've said before, I got my first job this summer, and was finally able to buy that 3DS I wanted for so long, along with quite a few fantastic games for it I missed the first time around (Bowser's...
Between Donkey Kong, Wario, and Yoshi, Yoshi's games are easily the least distinct and make much more use of Mario characters than the other two. His platformers also take more after core Mario games than DK's or Wario's, and before Yoshi started becoming its own thing, the original Yoshi's...
Yoshi's appeared in more Mario games than Yoshi games.
Which brings into question why exactly Smash bothers distinguishing Yoshi as its own franchise, or even Wario for that matter.
Videos like this make me feel genuinely bad for Waluigi fans.
In terms of Smash, while he's not my MW (Bandana Dee is) and he's not the blatant missing piece in Mario representation that Toad is, I do like Waluigi and I'd be really happy if he finally got in.
My most wanted is also a first party, and I firmly believe that, while some third parties are genuinely interesting picks or are important parts to Nintendo's legacy, Smash remains a Nintendo All-Stars game first and foremost. And no matter how many third-parties end up getting in, that will...
It just gives me a lot of FP1 vibes, that the pass will be overwhelmingly third-party yet again, and I've accepted the fact that Nintendo won't add their own characters as DLC except to advertise recent games. As much as it burns me to finally admit it.
I can be happy for others who got their...
You know, seeing this Smash reveal...gosh, this is an ambitious project. I can't believe Sakurai always manages to pull this stuff off.
Yes, it kind of stings because it feels like the final blow to Bandana Waddle Dee's chances. But Steve looks like a genuinely interesting addition that I...
Yes, but only if he says "Objection!" with every smash attack.
Oh, and his final smash is "Closing Argument" where he proves his opponents to be Guilty.
Ah yes, Animal, Magic, and Smash would all be good picks. Especially Smash.
And yes, I would also like to see Escargoon actually become playable in a video game.
Kirby Battle Royale
This just came in today. I beat the Beginner's League in the story mode, which was...really easy (as expected) and nothing like the introduction level. The minigames are fun though, so far I've played Battle Arena, Apple Scramble, and Coin Clash (I also played Crazy...
Kirby Fighters 2
I got this pretty much the second it launched, and I've been playing it pretty vigorously since. I've beaten Story Mode, Single-Handed Mode on all difficulty levels, and currently stand at Fighters Rank 58. It's definitely a significant upgrade from Kirby Fighters Deluxe on...
Kirby Fighters 2 on Switch, as well as Kirby Fighters Deluxe and Dedede's Drum Dash Deluxe on 3DS.
Oh and Kirby Battle Royale is still on its way, so I'll have that soon too.
This isn't Bandana Waddle Dee in Smash.
...It's better.
Beat Chapter 1 of the story, and I can already tell this will be well worth my $20. It's a huge upgrade over the original Fighters, and though I never played Fighters Deluxe, even that looks measly compared to this.
And Gooey's back...
Really excited, plus the fact that they specifically mentioned Bandana Waddle Dee might also foreshadow a dual reveal with CP7, perhaps as soon as tomorrow!
Really hyped!
I think SMB3 plays fine, and I don't have any sort of nostalgia bias for it (the first time I played it was earlier this year). Some levels did have questionable design decisions though and I do think the NSMB games are leaps and bounds better.
My point is simply that the tier list has far too much presence in the Smash community. You'd be surprised how many people there are that take it as objective fact, even in settings that are far from competitive. And "high-level exploits" was not a slight against competitive Smash at all...
Super Mario All-Stars - Super Mario Bros. 3
With Lost Levels out of the way, it's on to the third game! It's definitely a huge step up from its already great predecessors, and one of the greatest NES games ever made. The All-Stars remake so far has been most faithful to the original of the...
I really hate how many misconceptions there are surrounding tier lists. No, the character who can pull off the most high level game exploits in competitive Smash is not the character you'll see dominating any matches you play. And there's a simple reason for that: tier doesn't affect casual...
Super Mario All-Stars - Super Mario Bros. 2: The Lost Levels
It took long enough, but I finally managed to beat all 52 levels in the SNES version as Mario (maybe I'll do it as Luigi another day). Should clarify that no suspend points were used, but I didn't have to due to certain adjustments...
Kirby's Dream Collection is definitely among the greatest game compilations ever made. Yes, no alterations were made to the games themselves, but there were six of them, each ensured that the horizontal Wii remote was supported, and there was a ton of added content for Kirby veterans...and the...
I mean, I was going to buy it in the first six months anyway but the limited release is pretty awful for people who can't get this game before March.
Reminds me how I still sometimes cry over the fact that I can't get Zelda Four Swords Anniversary Edition.
Yeah. Honestly I'm just happy that I can legally play Sunshine now without paying scalpers for an overpriced GameCube copy, at least until the end of March. Yes, limited releases suck and I can see why this wouldn't appeal to people who already own the game, but $60 for three of the greatest...
Kirby: Planet Robobot
(better late than never, right?)
Planet Robobot is the 11th main game in the long-running Kirby series, released for 3DS in 2016. The 3rd installment directed by Shinya Kumazaki, Planet Robobot builds upon the foundation and mechanics of Return to Dream Land and Triple...
