The only thing that the MK8/D modders needs to work on is port the non-MK8D characters and its animations. I've seen MK7 mods which added Waluigi and R.O.B., along with their own unique animations.

I just noticed that nearly all the playable characters in Super Mario Party are playable in this game (17 out of 20).

Gold Dry Bones seems unexpected for its debut to the whole franchise (much like PGP). There wasn't a gold variant of Dry Bones in games before MKT, not even the RPG games. It looks like if Dry Bones was in effect of the gold ring in NSMB2.
