I chose Melee over Smash 4, but during a break between Melee matches, I switched over to Smash 4 to see Hungrybox play doubles. Damn, doubles can make for some interesting games to see. Makes me excited to open signups for Awards doubles soon.
Like, here's the thing; Project M was designed to be a harder, more competitive game with more inputs and more things to think about than Brawl and Smash 4. It's designed by tournament players, largely for tournament players. That's the raw deal. I'm aware you are more satisfied with using it as...
Only elitists of either side say their way is the "true" way of playing Smash. To me, at least, this isn't a matter of casual vs. competitive, this is a matter of causing a schism between those who want it on and those who want it off.
It's all-or-nothing. L-cancelling is a huge fundamental to...
It's there for a reason. It's intended to make aerials actually capable of being used in the neutral and in conjunction with grounded moves, but they also don't want extreme shield pressure being easy to do (though I personally love 64's hit mechanics and would be fine with it).
They're slowing character changes down now, I think, to let characters develop more. Though, they hit Fox with a strange change and now Mew2king doesn't want to vouch for majors for Project M. O well.
0-to-Death Mode is actually quite fun. Great combo practice and helps train landing finisher...
Yeah, RNG and his insane fast punish game are just so fun to see. Glad he's getting higher representation.
I'm actually excited to see how Westballz, Axe, The Moon, HugS, and aMSa do. They've been making things interesting.
I'm thinking Nairo if anyone. Dabuz maybe if he can step it up. I don't really know the Smash 4 scene too well, so I can't name any others that can contest.
Mew2king was looking impressive at Smash n Splash, even wrecked Ally who used to body him in Project M.
Is everyone aware that whoever can eliminate Zero from the tournament is getting a $500 community-donated bounty?
At the level needed to make a tier list, people know basic mechanics of characters. Yeah, people suck at dealing with down B spam against Kirby when they don't know how to shield, grab, and time hits. But that's not the level of play being analyzed. Kirby is the farthest character from getting...
Pichu has decent movement and a good Nair, giving him at least one thing he can do. Kirby has really bad mobility and really poor options, simple as that. His floatiness and kit are good for edgeguarding, but it requires him to get people off the stage.
Whirling Fortress and all the ATs that...
Extreme priority on moves to the point where few things block their hitboxes, large range and very fast frame data, outrageously strong recovery that lets him live far past his weight class, great mobility, tornado is a massive hitbox that can let him get through projectiles and wrack up damage...
People probably wouldn't be complaining about Lucina or Dark Pit if they were given unique movesets, to be honest. Smash Bros is a game as much as it is an all-star showcase, nothing wrong with fun fighters.
Roy looks like hes getting some additional Luigifying, so I'm fine with it.
Pichu added back in as a hyper glass cannon would be pretty great, since Rage is a thing now that he will get while comboing people.
Higher risk and higher reward Pikachu, I guess, like, giving him tons of base knockback on his finishers so it scales ludicrously like Falcon's Raptor Boost does...
Had a hard time choosing between Luigi or Falcon. Mained Falcon in 64, liked them both in Melee because of their hilarious speed (with a little help from wavecheating) and strong aerials, like them both in 4 because they still retain their combos in a much slower game.
Chose Luigi because I...
Looked this up out of curiosity,
Roy has the same grab range. I think his main problem is he can't actually combo with his alternate sweespots because, you know, knocking people away sends them farther away from the sword's hilt than the tip. Not to mention he's a fastfaller, so he has a hard...
Luigi if I know the matchup and Falcon if I don't know the matchup
I really don't get the idea of listing any character you're reasonably good with as a main opposed to simply a character you can just play, since I sincerely doubt every one of them will be equally skilled and is your go-to...
Labeling anxiety as a broad topic that is healthy and separate from interfering with life is poorly worded, especially when we're defining phobias as fears that have to interfere with quality of life (and it seems most people's listed don't really), as there is more than just GAD, but it's...
Dream Land being the only neutral is why Falcon rose above Fox and Link dropped back down and stuff like that, since Hyrule Castle is just so god damn huge and built right for camping. I think meta development helped Samus and Jiggs go back up, since it's been quite a long time since a new tier...
It's not really about speed, it's about options and matchups. In Melee, Bowser, Mewtwo, Zelda, etc. all have the common trait that they are indeed slow, but it's also that they have next to no valuable options. Pichu, and Sonic in Brawl, ARE fast, but they lack strong moves to make anything with...
can you provide an example of a widely-played video game or an esport that uses bans that has no important skill gaps whatsoever?
does chess not involve any skill because the mechanics are relatively simple to learn?
professional matches ban things that require a disproportionate amount of skill or effort that trivializes everything else, and when two players of roughly equal skill compete, the one using said character, item, or strategy is going to have a huge advantage and forces the other to use it too...
It was a lot of fun yesterday, thank you all for stopping by. We'll see if we can try to get another match up whenever. I'm going to acknowledge the bad parts and see if we can work out solutions.
First off, the server had a serious lag issue, especially when it got to more than 6 players. This...
