I mean obviously. Mario & Luigi: Paper Jam did that, and so did the Mario & Luigi remakes. I'm just saying, having some but not all is a huge pet peeve of mine with a few certain games (lookin at you Mario & Sonic)
It was honestly a brilliantly insidious marketing campaing. They obviously wanted ARMS to take off as their next big-name franchise like Splatoon before it, but it just fizzled out before it could make it big (be it due to lack of interest, cutting support early on Nintendo's part, or both)...
Of the top of my mind, in no particular order I like:
DK Mountain / Dino Dino Jungle
Mushroom Bridge / Mushroom City
Toad's Factory
Rainbow Road in Mario Kart: Double Dash!!
Rainbow Road in Mario Kart Wii
Rainbow Road in Super Mario Kart
Choco Mountain
Mount Wario
Thwomp Ruins
Mario Circuit /...
I mean obviously. Gacha models only actually work when fanservice is involved.
Notice how the best alts so far have been the females. Rosalina in her Halloween costume, Daisy in her Fairy costume, etc.
On the opposite side of the spectrum, Bowser has yet to get a single variant... and yet Dry...
Probably because it'd be more expensive to fit him with all the neat lights n shit the Mario figure has.
Think Luigi will be like, the start of wave 2 or something
If there are loot drops I hope they're at least substantial. Color Splash had a problem where the Coins, Paint, and Cards it gave you for battles weren't that useful because the game practically showers you with Coins, Paint, and Cards. Your consumable attacks didn't help matters either, so...
Well so far The Origami King hasn't shown us a reason to battle either to my knowledge.
The fact you now have expendable weapons (which seem to be handled much better than in previous games) doesn't help matters.
After rewatching the trailer I'm still not seeing any evidence of EXP being a thing, which is concerning. They're still probably withholding information from us but if this game has no EXP like Sticker Star and Color Splash that's going to bog down the battle system no matter how fun it is.
I can finally say with certainty this game looks fun, I was iffy on the battle system but now that I see it in action it looks like it can make for some really interesting battles.
EDIT: Also I'm fine with the arts and crafts bosses, I just wish they had more unique names aside from.... "Tape".
I'm pretty sure he was talking about games like Animal Crossing where you're doing stuff to progressively expand your town/island/whatever the game takes place in. Pretty big difference between that and a game with unlockable characters like Mario Kart or Smash.
Maybe it's because I beat the game a lot so I'm used to a lot of the level design but people treat Lost Levels as this super-hard, brutal Kaizo hack of the first game.
It's not.
Don't the Smash games allow you to delete your save by holding all the face buttons as the game starts?
Do something like that, only it has the opposite effect.
I wasn't talking about a new game style, rather a mode or something where you're constantly running. Granted these already exist in speedrun levels where you hold the run button and need to have split-second reaction time to get through, though some sort of option dedicated to it on top of some...
Wouldn't complain if they made another game like Super Mario Run. Don't think it will happen though since they have Dr. Mario World and Mario Kart Tour on their priority list already and it didn't do so well so there's little incentive for a sequel.
Yknow this just gave me an idea for a cross...
Never liked the Tiki Tak Tribe. They're designs aren't interesting and they lack a lot of personality compared to the Kremlings and Snowmads.
The bosses are fun though.
The New Super Mario Bros. series is incredibly stiff and feels awful to control. I've had more frustration playing New Super Mario Bros. U than games actually sold on their difficulty (Dark Souls, Hollow Knight, etc.)
I also don't like its awkward use of models on a 2D plane. Just looks jarring...
Had a dream last night that a new Donkey Kong Country platformer was announced but it starred some red walrus that, in this reality, was one of the bosses in Donkey Kong Country Returns. It also had Hammer Bros.
I'm generally of the "wait and see" approach for this game, because right now I don't think we have enough info for anyone to make a firm judgement... but I will say this: the marketing for this game so far is fucking bizarre.
There's hints that this game is indeed trying to hew closer to the...
I've just never been a fan of the artstyle in general, and that does include the older Paper Mario games to a small extent even if I enjoy the games. Doesn't help nowadays it's oversaturated
Some takeaways for me:
I'm very concerned by the lack of information on the new wheel battle system. It could be fun and interesting and it at least has my attention but why did they not show any combat for a fucking turn-based RPG?
There seems to be giant open worlds to explore though, like...
Maybe not, after all characters get cut all the time, though it can only bode well for her.
Actually are there any returning characters Mario Kart Tour is missing? So far I can think of Funky, Petey Piranha, Wiggler, and Honey Queen. If Mario Kart Tour tries to make EVERYONE IS HERE a thing...
Reeeeaaaally gets on my nerves when the Mario & Sonic games (and Dr. Mario World too I guess but they're likely being added later) add some of the Koopalings but not all of them. Same with the Deadly Six. Either add all of them or none of them and give those slots to other characters.
