"What's that? You say you actually want a fun mobile Mario Kart game that's not filled with disgusting microtransactions? Sorry, I'm behind rent on my seventh mansion this month, sucks for you!"
And keep in mind, I don't have as many qualms with Super Paper Mario's story as many of you do. But I feel the ending falls flat and it could have been executed much better.
I think the closest thing to that is his eyes turning from red to blue after his defeat? We know he was Blumiere before...
Bleck is definitely my least favorite of Super Paper Mario's characters. The game wants us to feel sympathetic for his sacrifice to save all worlds, except that level of selfishness is irredeemable. You could make the argument Mario and co. helped saved him from his path of destruction, but it's...
Which strengths by point from my post that characters being better on certain tracks is a terrible idea since it goes against the incentive to pick your favorite character which has been in every game before.
Saying she has her own personality is a bit of a stretch
If you wanted to change her to Kamek all you'd need to do is change her pronouns and a couple old lady jokes and the world wouldn't flinch
You've got to understand that until recently, the GameCube was a black sheep. It sold poorly and when the Wii U came out, it was too recent to be nostalgic. By now, people who love the console are at an age where they can fondly look back on it, but that audience still doesn't rival that of the...
I find it really frustrating how much Nintendo continually squanders the character potential of the Mario franchise so I think I'm gonna avoid dressing this opinion up in a joke. If these weird, half "lazy" half out-of-left-field character choices are supposed to be some sort of running gag as...
I know they aren't indie but Ubisoft was able to give us a completely new take on the series in Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle which turned out to be one of my favorite games on Switch so I'd love more games developed by other companies.
There's really no level in Super Mario 3D World I could call my favorite. None of them really stand out to me as any more fun or pretty than the other levels.
Music is still great though.
Daily reminder that Mario and Bowser have canonically kissed in Super Mario RPG: Legend of the Seven Stars
according to my playthrough but details details
Idk if I'd go that far but I agree jumping is usually a better option than hammer in most situations. I'd like for hammer to have more going for it to balance the two.
Ice Shield was pretty useless imo, unlike Spike Shield it's only effective on Embers and their relatives.
In Thousand-Year Door at least, dunno if that badge was in the original.
A thought occurred to me that Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario put you on opposite positions in terms of offense and defense.
In Paper Mario you must strategically choose your attack and dodging requires a simple button press.
In Mario & Luigi you're either only using your basic jump/hammer attack...
Tangentially related but I have to wonder how accurate that survey for Super Paper Mario was where less than 1% said the story was their favorite thing about it.
Anyways Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door for me.
Alternatively, make Peach escaping Bowser's castle a new game plus mode, where she plays harder versions of the levels. All of them are played in the reverse direction of course.
Kirby, Donkey Kong Country, and even indie titles have been pushing the genre with new ideas and even just... doing the basics better. Mario pioneered the genre of 2D platformers... and this is all they want for it? They're totally fine with the games not doing a single thing they couldn't do in...
They need to do minigames in the main series like the ones in Super Mario 64 DS and New Super Mario Bros. again. Sure it doesn't really add to the main adventure but it's fun side content.
The first New Super Mario Bros. is the only one really worth playing imo, it has more colorful visuals and music compared to its successors.
It also has a really fun battle mode that should absolutely come back and way more enjoyable than the claustrophobic mess in Wii and U.
If you're a video game company currently having emergency meetings to decide whether you should do your truly hilarious April Fool's joke this week, let me make it easy for you: Absolutely not
As awkward as the Donkey Kong Country TV series is, King K. Rool being the Saturday cartoon villain just fits him somehow. That and his voice being fancy and over-the-top is hilarious.
Said this before but I'll say it again, I'd be much more willing to take my chances with the gacha system if we had separate characters like Hammer Bro. or Kamek or E. Gadd than if we keep getting things like Detective Baby Rosalina. Yes, it would still suck we have to deal with the gacha system...
Paper Mario could really benefit from better postgame stuff. Better yet, why not make a new game plus that ups the difficulty? Have the game be easily accessible for everyone and have this new hard mode for RPG fans who want a little more out of it. I'd also be down for fun sidequests (via...
Speaking of Mr. L, I love how Shadoo uses his silhouette instead of Luigi's when you battle him in the Pit of 100 Trials. Guess the forgot to switch out the sprites when editing them.
Speaking of the Pit of 100 Trials, piss right off with making me do it twice.
I mean I can totally understand wanting to protect their IPs but sheesh, almost none of these fangames getting taken down are affecting the sales of their games.
If anything it's free advertisement for the real deal.
Remember when Nintendo waited 10 years to take down a fan remake of Metroid II: Return of Samus made entirely from the ground up with only using Game Maker all because they had their uglier, less fun Metroid II remake in the works themselves?
Pepperidge farm remembers.
Let's not forget the...
I'd say a story, or at least a focus on one, helps with the RPGs because it helps alleviate the typical monotony turn-based RPGs have. The main series probably doesn't need it but Super Mario Odyssey's final act was great and I'd appreciate more of that.
If they're gonna add Yamamura do it like R.O.B. in Mario Kart DS where he doesn't touch the steering wheel. Just make him a tiny ass bird who just sits in the kart's seat as it magically propels itself forward.
Meh, I don't mind any of the action commands. Gives me something to do while attack animations are going on. I'll concede on Tattle though since that's not really an attack and Paper Mario did it without one and it worked just fine there.
Of course ones who mainly cover Mario / Nintendo content, let's play channels are fine too. Use this to just talk about your (least) favorite content creators or recommend channels to others.

I mean Luigi's Mansion 3 had all of that, especially for Luigi, on top of having a bunch of unique enemy and boss designs including a new secondary villain in Hellen Gravely. Super Mario Odyssey gave Mario a lot more life and personality, while also bringing in some new characters like Cappy and...
