They were simply continuing the trend of main characters getting possessed. It already happened with Bowser two other times, along with Peach in the second game. I guess they felt it was Luigi's turn that time around.
Since when were Roy and Mewtwo newcomers? Unless, of course, the former option was talking about Roy Koopa, but I doubt it.
In any case, I've voted for K. Rool and Dixie.
Even so, I wouldn't rule cutscenes out. After all, Classic Sonic was mute in Generations, and that game still had them.
That's a pretty good question. That was never explained in-game, but Mephiles may have been too occupied with collecting the Chaos Emeralds. Yeah, he was (somehow) able to...
Yeah, I'll admit that they didn't expand upon Mephiles' motives enough (possibly because of Sonic 2006 being rushed), and they didn't make it a hundred percent clear as to whether he wanted to remake the universe in his own image (like Dimentio), or he simply planned to leave it as it was after...
Yes, but unlike Mephiles, Robotnik has never tried to destroy the universe.
Speaking of Black Doom, he also happens to be one of my favorites. Dark characters and storylines may not be your thing, Mcmadness, but I, for one, happen to like them quite a bit. As it said in the image Magikrazy...
Only one of his forms was a palette swap. While Mephiles' most common form still bears resemblance to Shadow, he had more of a demonic appearance and was far from being a mere recolor.
As for him not having any personality... I don't know where that's coming from. Along with being incredibly...
I know I'm most likely in the minority on this one, but I don't think that an alliance between Bowser and Dr. Robotnik is anything special. To me, Mephiles the Dark and Dimentio is where it's at. Those two characters are similar enough to one another for it to work out just fine.
*"Haff". :P
In all seriousness, you do bring up some valid points, I'll admit. On the other hand, it could also be argued...
Note: For future reference, it's probably a good idea if we put all Dream Team-related spoilers in tags, since there are most likely people who still haven't played...
Aside from Bowser's claim that he "Doesn't 'vork' with anyone!", there was no foreshadowing of that whatsoever.
You're saying he never had time in the spotlight in the Mario & Luigi series? What about Bowser's Inside Story, which is pretty much his own game? Sure, Mario's and Luigi's names are...
Again, it's all a matter of personal preference. I'm pretty sure they could have pulled off something if Antasma was given ample development time, but they chose not to.
In my eyes, that made him look worse, because that game (along with Yoshi's New Island) pretty much confirmed everything I've...
What "drama"? This is merely a friendly, on-topic debate. Neither of us have dished out any personal attacks whatsoever. I've even specifically stated that he's free to think what he wants, and I bear no grudge against him for it.
Exactly.
1. Ah, so you truly are the same person as mrbowser, after all. I thought about asking, but it looks like I've already gotten my answer.
2. Yes, there are some exceptions (however few there may be), which is why I said that's what most of his plans are about.
Maybe, but it still seemed as if...
Yes, and most of those "memorable boss fights" were straight rehashes of previous ones, such as having to run underneath or around him to close the drawbridge, along with all thousand plus times he's turned into a giant, especially as of late. Last, but not least, next to none of Bowser's plans...
I feel pretty much the same way about Bowser. Sure, I've said many times that I don't understand what people see in him as a villain, but at the same time, I've never once proclaimed it to be solid fact. It's all a matter of preference.
The only character I'm concerned about right now is K. Rool. He's someone who's been way overdue for an appearance for over ten years now. Plus, it'll (somewhat) make up for the fact that they've been pretending as if he doesn't exist in not one, not two, but three (console) platformers in a...
Regardless of whether or not it's an "excuse plot", it's far more cliche than anything Super Paper Mario had to offer. While Bowser isn't the first villain to ever utilize princess-kidnapping plans (or damsel-in-distress plots in general), he is, however, the very reason why those kind of plots...

EDIT: This was said in response to a (now) deleted post.
The same could be said about Super Paper Mario, can't it? While it did have a dark storyline, there were still plenty of lighthearted and humorous moments throughout the game.
It's been over a year. In fact, it's been almost two, since Sticker Star was released in November 2012. As early as that may still seem, Super Paper Mario was shown at E3 two years after Thousand-Year came out.
Believe me, I'd love for the series go back to its roots and have the same charm as the first three, but after the wounds that were caused by Sticker Star (and reopened towards the end of Dream Team), I'll be keeping my expectations low this time around.
Yeah, that's the only downside. I'm not sure why they didn't give an option to switch controllers, despite the fact that the DK Bongos were compatible with the Wii, but otherwise, it was a fun game.
Here's another unpopular opinion of mine. Donkey Kong Barrel Blast is actually a good game. Not only that, but I'd take it over any Mario Kart game any day of the week.
Same here. I also liked the Zelda cartoon, and found the "Excuuuuuuuuse me, Princess!" line to be pretty hilarious. It just never got old to me, no matter how many times it was said. That line's a classic.
