For those who aren't in the know, the official American site has been updated. Has some new screenshots and art, as well.
So Gooper Blooper's a boss (presumably of the forest world), and Ninjis, Snifits, Bloopers with three dark spots on their heads (probably a new variety?), and regular...
I'd like to see more characters from Super Mario World return. Monty Moles, Mechakoopas, Banzai Bills, and Munchers have pretty much become recurring enemies, the Reznors were in NSMB2, and Torpedo Teds, Thwimps, Sumo Bros., and Bony Beetles are set to appear in NSMBU.
I'd really like to see...
Aside from Yoshi's Story (when I was really little), there aren't any game over screens in Mario games that creep me out too much.
Donkey Kong Country, on the other hand...
Then there's the people who rag on games such as Kirby's Epic Yarn and a certain game involving paper and stickers.
Some people accept the changes, while others swiftly write them off as terrible without playing them. I guess it just boils down to opinions.
Wow, now that we've seen more of the environments, I won't have to worry about the world themes not being creative.
That's a pretty rash assumption. I'm sure the new games are made in Japan before the English-speaking divisions localize them.
Wow, they're really driving the papery elements into full force now. I kinda like that.
Although seeing Goombas disintegrate and turn into ash after being caught on fire is slightly disconcerting.
For the 2D games, at least, and they're getting a tremendous amount of bile for this reason. NSMB2 has dislike comparable to that of Sonic the Hedgehog 4.
And now Sticker Star is catching flak for being too different, despite still being a turn-based RPG in its core, and not being released yet.
It's just Nintendo of America's PR department trying to get people hooked, as usual. If anything, this is be NSMBDS's true successor: a much better follow-up to a mediocre game.
The new PM is the sole reason why I bought a 3DS, so that's my most wanted one out of the bunch. NSMBU is my second most wanted one, since it happens to be a follow-up to the best installment of the NSMB series.
LM:DM looks plain uninteresting, and I'll need to see actual footage of SSBU/3DS...
I'd totally love to hear Super Mario World's boss music in a new Mario game. I'm tired of hearing the overrated (in my opinion) Super Mario Bros. 3's boss music already.
I find it funny how some underrated enemies only reappear in underrated games.
Pidgits were last seen in M&L: PiT, Rexes and Amazing Flying Hammer Bros. were last seen in Super Princess Peach, Ninjis in Mario vs. DK, Bandits in Mario Party 7, etc.
Here's one thing that's got me excited about this game: two-player co-op in the actual levels. I do hope they retain the VS. Mode from the previous portable installment, though.
I don't know about the rest of you, but if the 1,000,000 coin goal and competitive StreetPass features = more...
By "Original 8", I'm referring to the original Mario Kart roster (minus DK Jr. for obvious reasons). "Supporting 8" refers to their logical counterparts.
That's how I always see it, anyway.
Pidgits, Stretches, Little Mousers, Snowball Spikes, Ninjis, Chargin' Chucks, Rexes, and the Amazing Flying Hammer Bros... to name a few.
Never really cared for many of the Sarasaland characters, although those seahorse enemies and the Moai statue enemies looked pretty cool (in official art, at...
Considering the goal of the game is to get a million coins...
It would be hilarious for Wario to show up out of nowhere and steal all of them from you in the end. Knowing Nintendo, that probably won't happen.
In the ending credits of Paper Mario, a couple of Bob-ombs are shown with hands.
Not counting SMB2, they haven't been depicted with hands ever since, nor in the past.
Apparently, the ultimate goal of the game is to collect 1 million coins.
What if Bowser's holding Peach for ransom? That would be interesting, and a bit deeper than the usual "save the princess" plot.
Are people starting to dislike the Koopalings now? I'm noticing quite a lot of disapproval for their reappearance in NSMB2.
The hate should be directed towards Bowser Jr., like it should be.
This is what I'm expecting:
- Reznor
- Female version of Reznor
- False Bowser
- Bowser
As for what I'm hoping for:
- Reznor (fortress/tower)
- original bosses (castle)
- Kamek (last fortress)
- Bowser (final castle)
A Lakitu that throws blue Spinies. All you Mario Kart players should know where I'm going with this.
It wouldn't work well in an actual Mario game, though.
I read the title and was expecting a game that borrows elements from SMB2 like vegetable throwing and Shy Guys as actual enemies. Then I looked at the screens and became mildly disappointed.
Then I realized Japan's SMB2 was different than ours. So it looks like we're essentially getting "New...
You're welcome. Just a minor oversight on my part.
In other news, a massive one-lap Rainbow Road, if done right, should turn out to be spectacular. No worries there. Also looking forward to SNES Rainbow Road, if not for that catchy music.
Scans of Nintendo Power's preview of Mario Kart 7 have surfaced across the interwebs.
Part of this might dampen the mood for all you Waluigi fans out there. :'(
Aside from the most obvious suggestions, Rosalina, Lubba, and/or the Koopalings.
Also, it wouldn't hurt to see some Wario characters make it in. Mona has a scooter and Dribble and Spitz own a souped-up taxi, so they'll have no problem with driving a kart.
Considering the amount of baby characters there are at this time, no.
If they ditch Baby Daisy and Baby DK (which is extremely unlikely), and bring Baby Wario to the spinoffs, then yes.
Good (or bad) news, guys:
http://www.thetanooki.com/2010/11/11/final-fantasy-characters-confirmed-for-mario-sports-mix/
I saw this coming, to be honest. Two characters to be revealed.
Posted already but...

Seven characters, huh? Maybe the Koopalings will make their first playable appearance?! Nah,
Here's another idea:
- Birdo
- Toadette
- Rosalina
- Lubba
...and the last three slots...
Baby Waluigi is waaay overdue.
Baby Birdo and Baby Rosalina sound likely, Baby Toad is less likely, and Baby Diddy Kong's existence would screw with our heads even more.
Cranky, Funky, Candy, and maybe Wrinkly for the Kong characters. Dixie could be in there somewhere as well.
As for the Animal Buddies (since Rambi is already confirmed): Squawks, Enguarde, and Winky.
And I'm hoping that Cranky gets back his naggy fastidious attitude from the original 3 DKCs...
Here's my idea for a roster.
Lightweight:
- Toad
- Toadette
- Koopa Troopa
- Baby Mario
- Baby Luigi
- Baby Peach
- Baby Daisy (?)
- Baby Wario (?)
- Baby Waluigi (?!?)
- Lemmy
- Larry
Medium Weight:
- Mario
- Luigi
- Peach
- Daisy
- Waluigi
- Yoshi
- Birdo
- Bowser Jr.
- Wendy
- Iggy...
Quoted for the absolute truth.
In fact, I don't have a problem with any of the Mario characters. Well, except for Koopa Kid in the Mario Party games. We already have enough "mini-me" Bowsers, and they could easily be replaced by the Koopalings.
Ever since PiT, I've always wanted to see them bring back the Bros. Attacks. The Bros. Items seemed kind of lackluster for me.
Too bad that'll never happen.
