I also got everything in the game and it was an absolute treat. I loved the subtleties in the terrain, like how the controller feels different when walking on grass/metal/etc. Exceptional sound design in that respect. The bosses were creative and really fun to go through as well. The cameos are...
If you haven't heard of them already, you should check out The Megas. They take songs from Mega Man (mostly 2 and 3), and turn them into rock songs with lyrics that generally fit whatever level/theme it's doing. They also have done stuff for Castlevania as well.
For me out of the main series it's Mario 3 or Mario World. It's hard to pick between them, because depending on the day I could go either way. Honorable mention to Mario 64 although it's not as timeless as the other two.
Due to changes in how we display the front page since 200, my program I used to compile the previous issues no longer worked in the same way. While it's just a template and can be done manually, it's pretty tedious which is why such a program was made in the first place. That said, it's been...
The moment you've all been waiting for, it's Issue 208! Not just any issue, either. This is our meaty summer special based around Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door. We have so many lovingly crafted sections to offer. Allow me to go over some highlights.
There's guest submissions from several...
Dear Waluigi Time,
Paper Mario: The Thousand-Year Door has several memorable locations. How would you rank each of them based on how much you'd like to live there?
Sincerely, Enthused Tourist
There's some Apple products I really like. Such as Granny Smith, Honey Crisp, Golden Delicious, Gala, Fuji, but not Red Delicious because that's boring.
I would rather eat an Android phone than touch anything Tim cooks up.
Hello everyone hope you're having a nice Saturday! It's of course, that time again where Issue 206 of The 'Shroom is debuting! We've got a lot of great sections for you in store, and you should definitely read every single one.
For some other announcements, I know we've previously announced...
Interestingly enough, according to Google, Blue's Clues first aired on September 8th, 1996, while Super Mario 64 released in Japan on June 23rd the same year. So, if we stop there then the answer is Mario. However, I got curious because surely the release date is not indicative of when the idea...
It's not really a secret because quite a few people are already aware of it but I'm letting the cat out of the bag. As of a few days ago, I am engaged to @MsRetroGeek.
Super Metroid. I've been playing it from start to finish almost every day lately (it's my favorite game of all time). Last night I finished with 1:34 in-game (roughly 2 hours real time)
Greetings 'Shroom believers!
Issue 203 is now hot and ready fresh off the press! We've got a slew of specials for you, including a massive dive on the history of The 'Shroom's special sections from Goombuigi. If you're feeling up to the task of taking on a new leadership position, consider...
I doubt this is the case but just so you're aware, anyone that used to have an account on Music.ly automatically had it moved over to TikTok. If you've never had a Music.ly account either then you might have a secret admirer/imposter, but if you did, there you go.
I'm gonna say the Mario Bros. and Mushroom Kingdom friends. Mainly because they're usually hosting something fun like go-kart rallies, sports tournaments, and party sessions that would be fun to be involved with.
I've been to Disneyland which is technically Anaheim and not Los Angeles but it's the nearest thing to me being to one of the cities and Google lists it as part of the Greater Los Angeles area so I'm counting it.
Vancouver is the closest I live by but I have not been there.
It's past midnight for me so I have to close this now. Thank you to everyone who submitted a song! I hope you're looking forward to this playlist, and the rest of Issue 200 when it debuts officially in less than a week!
I'm still accepting song requests for a community playlist in Issue 200! Give me a song here, or send me a DM on the forums or Discord. It's also guaranteed a listen from me, so what are you waiting for?
You have a little less than 3 weeks to submit something for The 'Shroom's 200th issue. Please send me your creative works no matter how small, and no matter what subject! We want to get as much of the community involved as we can to make this milestone the best it can be.
You can even...
Title is self explanatory. It can be a song from a band/artist, a soundtrack from a game/thing, a shit post, ASMR static noise, whatever you want. One song only for now, but you can change you mind up until a week before 200 releases (November 11). This post will be used to keep track of things...
Anything can be an instrument if you use your imagination. For the case of mayonnaise we can do some shenanigans to have it be a percussive instrument:
1) Rhythmically tap the lid on a mayonnaise jar.
2) If it's in a squeeze bottle it will likely make squirt noises when it's nearly empty.
3) If...
I would have rather had a new game in this style but that's my bias because I just played the original a few months ago. Still looks fun for those interested
Regarding my previous PSA: it can be ignored because I'm home now. Any submissions can be sent to me and normal activity is resumed. Although regrettably we didn't receive a single 'Shroom application. You all should change that if you're able to, or consider outputting your creativity into...
Hey all another public service announcement. Beginning on May 4th, I'll be traveling out of my home country for a vacation. You're still welcome to send me 'Shroom applications if you want, but during this time if you have something to submit, please add @Hooded Pitohui and/or @Shbig Changes...
Option 1 for me. Obviously it's not the greatest written film ever made, nor is it some deep emotional flick, but when I went to the theater I had a good time. The movie was fun, entertaining, and that's really all I wanted out of this.
With the 3DS eShop officially closed now, it's a little sad seeing how empty it is now. Yesterday I bought some of the Persona Q and Q2 DLC. I guess I could have just pirated it afterwards but eh. Who knows when I'll get around to actually playing these games but hey, at least the eShop won't be...
I like theme parks to some extent but I feel the same way. I much would rather go to Super Nintendo World Japan but that's likely because I already wanted to go to Japan anyway. My thoughts on the California park are largely indifferent.
Unfortunately we live in a world where all of the people directly responsible for causing such a clown show get off with no consequences while the rest of us suffer
In the event that you're asking a genuine question, Mafia is a strategy game played by a group of players ranging anywhere from 8 to 20 or more. It has other names such as Werewolf, but players are divided into different factions. Usually this is the Town and the Mafia. The Town does not know...
I've played Mario games on everything listed except an OG Game Boy/Game Boy Color. I do own some games for the system and have played several but that's the only hardware here I don't own.
Without a doubt, 6 is my favorite. It was the first Mario Party I owned, so I really got the chance to dive into everything it has to offer. I love the day/night mechanic, and the orbs feel so much more refined here than they are in 5. The boards offer some great variety as well. I wish that...
This is a public service announcement to let people know that if you see a fictional black cat roaming around these forums, it's not me. I guess they're living another one of their 9 lives from tragically being blown up on a cruise ship after igniting a priest... Not that I would have knowledge...
Honestly, Mario Kart DS is still my favorite handheld Mario Kart (not counting the switch as a handheld). The amount of content that I got out of it as a kid with no friends was great from Mission Mode, VS. Mode, the best Battle mode for playing alone, and even just drawing a custom emblem.
It's easy to dismiss the original game as "jank" when looking back from a modern perspective, but at the time it was incredibly polished compared to a lot of the competition. Story details weren't necessarily as important either, but any such information would usually be found in the instruction...
