Re: Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo Switch
Even compared to other boards, like any Smash discussion on the Nintendo Switch console board there is far more normal.
Re: Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo Switch
The GameFAQs board for Smash Switch is a massive s***show, half the topics are either about removing FE characters or obsessing over K. Rool and Ridley, all with the utmost passion and fervor as if the fate of the world depended on it. I mean... I see...
Re: Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo Switch
Oh dear LORD! People started up the Ridley memes again! Honestly as a Metroid fan I would love to see Ridley added and get more recognition (and a sweet amiibo), but am not a fan of how overzealous his and K. Rool's fanbases got during Smash 4 hype.
Re: Super Smash Bros. For Nintendo Switch
I have a feeling it'll be a hybrid of a port and "new game experience update" for Smash 4. The engine and most of the characters will probably remain the same, but we'll be getting new modes, stages and characters for sure (fingers crossed for...
I see. That would actually be pretty nice, I was under the impression that the Switch could only get one Smash game in its lifetime. With a Smash 4 port, we'd definitely get a bit of modernized content from games like Splatoon, ARMS, Odyssey and BOTW, and maybe one or two hype third-party...
New Donk City please. And we need "Jump Up, Super Star!" as one (or several) of the background music tracks. You know it'll happen. I'd love to see more Odyssey stages since its worlds are so mind-blowing but am not sure if the game would be overrepresented or not. Maybe there can be two Odyssey...
I actually imagine that Corrin is more likely to be cut than Lucina. Smash is an arm for advertising different Nintendo franchises and characters; Corrin is extremely polarizing in their own games, while Lucina is more widely loved since all the arguments about "roster slot filler" and "Sakurai...
Bayonetta 1
I picked up the Bayonetta 1+2 pack for Switch thanks to her Smash appearance. Bayonetta is a massive badass and I love the whole campy vibe she's got going on. It's excruciatingly difficult for a new player like me to get a half-decent award at the end of each stage, so I'm...
Holy hell BOTW knocked my socks off. It was the game that solidified my Zelda fandom for good. I think the best part about the game is that every single action you perform in it feels rewarding in some way, and there's just so much to do.
Tbh I'm in favor of a new installment rather than a Switch port. The Switch represents a new "era" for Nintendo with tons of great, new ideas, while a lot of stuff in Smash 4 reflects mid-2010s "dork age" it was released in *coughstickerstarandothermstagescough*. A Smash 4 port would feel...
I'm actually very happy with a lot of the Smash 4 roster. Cloud in particular was mega hype for me, and Bayonetta's inclusion was great and helped me get into her series. So I don't really have any "Sakurai MUST include this character or else the roster will be unfair" characters, but there are...
I really think Lucina should return for Smash 5. She became unexpectedly popular and is basically one of the faces of her franchise, and they can easily turn her into a semi-clone like they did for Roy. If she is cut, it's no big deal, they can have her return as DLC if demand is high enough, or...
Was anyone there at the con? There was a massive Nintendo shoot that took place on the Saturday. The Facebook page has some pics from the shoot:

I was one of the ZSS cosplayers, but in keeping with the spirit of the...
SPM was actually my favorite game in the series, even though I liked TTYD too.
IMO, it incorporated elements of mainline Mario the right way - by fusing traditional Mario platforming with the RPG and item elements from the previous games. Not to mention the great story, huge and colorful cast...
Wow, I actually kinda forgot he was in charge of Fed Force too. And he produced Sticker Star.
Maybe he'll become the next Nintendo creator that everyone hates. Shame too, since Sakamoto was the one who actually ruined the Metroid series.
While I'm not at all fond of Ms. Tabata's attitude towards the more "controversial" questions, I'm actually afraid for her that she could become the new Allison Rapp and be the scapegoat for all the game's problems. Color Splash haters could end up flinging their *bleep* at her when it's totally...
Maybe I used the wrong term - basically, it feels like the newer entries have less "heart", "charm" and "love" put into them than the old ones, which is hard to explain objectively (one objective thing is the lack of original characters and settings in the newer RPG's, but PJ apparently managed...
I actually think he was handled pretty well in Paper Jam. I'm just predicting that his character will be handled badly yet again, and he'll have a few lines of generic dialogue to superficially address Sticker Star complaints, though maybe (and hopefully) that's me complaining too much.
They make Sticker Star, people don't like it. They make Color Splash, which apparently repeats a lot of the things people didn't like about SS, and they simply gloss over them in interviews.
Other Mario subseries have also been becoming more simplistic and casual, playing things "too safe" (3D...
I see what you mean. For sure I hope that's the case. It's far better than IS dealing with the same issue for Color Splash, where their rep just kinda seemed to avoid talking about the whole issue and diverted attention to how "all the Toads are different".
It would be great to see some of the...
Personally, I prefer Mario & Luigi over Paper Mario, but one of my fears is that the Mario subseries will continue this game's formula, and we could say get M&L6 where Bowser and the Koopalings are rehashed as bosses and the game's special gimmick is collecting and recruiting Toads for special...
This game makes me afraid that we won't get any more Mario spinoffs or new characters with their own charm or personality. Even IS managed to pull through and managed to put some wit and charm into Paper Jam despite the character restriction; maybe that will be gone once we get Mario & Luigi...
There is the reminding, that all of these characters are to come from the RPG's and most of them are from the series of Mario & Luigi, which is the series of Fawful!
Post your cosplays here, Mario-related or otherwise!
Here's my (tangentially Mario-related) entry, a casual Charizard gijinka/anthropomorphization:
More pics are up on the social media accounts in my sig!
I'm indifferent to Mario's Smash personality. Ideally, he'd still have moments of anger/seriousness but show his usual jolly side for taunts and victory poses.
Though you know what would have been overkill? Having a Flying Mario palette swap. OW THE EDGE
Charizard is the coolest playable Pokemon.
Lucina was a decent character choice, especially for a clone.
Adding Corrin was a good choice to advertise Fates.
I think the DLC characters we got are fantastic.
This. Baby Rosalina feels like a parody of the pointless baby filler characters. But it's both hilarious and sad how she doesn't have anything tongue-in-cheek about her. What were they thinking?
It's a STONE, Luigi! You didn't make it!
...That aside, what about the RPG's? Sticker Star is the most infamous example, and Paper Jam feels like a teeth-clenched compromise between its obligation to be a "generic Mario game" and Alphadream's efforts to make it as unique as the other M&L games.
During the mid-Wii era, Super Mario was probably at its peak. It could appeal to everyone - every game was simple enough for most casual gamers to get into. Meanwhile, the even more casual "non-gamers" had NSMB and Mario Kart, with barely any plot and very simple gameplay for some quick fun...
On-topic, Rosalina's different depictions seem to be a heroic version of how Bowser can swing between being a terrifying turtle overlord and Mario's sports partner. If there was another game with Rosalina in a major scripted role, her dialogue would be more in line with her Galaxy self than just...
Paper Luigi is an additional party member, and the only one with full dialogue. Battle revolves around all four Bros., with Bros., Paper Bros., and Quartet attacks all available.
Due to fan demand, Miyamoto allows previous RPG OC's from either series to be used, but severely limits the number...
Currently, I'm maining Link, with Lucina, Bowser and Cloud as secondaries. I play a lot of characters though, and have a whole bunch that I break out for 1 or 2 matches.
Either Galaxy or M&L: Dream Team. Galaxy is an amazing platformer and the better game overall, but I love Dream Team just as much because of all the memorable characters, excellent music and fun battles.
Do you prefer Bowser as a goofy, bumbling side villain as he was in SS and PiT, a badass and competent main villain as he is in DT and PJ, or the circumstantial anti-hero of BiS?
Personally, I'd go with the latter. Bowser's always been one of my favorite Mario characters, being an evil...
Got some pretty slim pickings here... Anyway, it's either Lucina or Corrin for me. Corrin looks like an amazing Smash character and she's gotten me hyped for Fates after losing interest, but I'm kinda attached to Lucina as a character in Awakening despite her boring moveset - she got me into the...
Tell me about it. I'm excited for Corrin, but my first thought when seeing Fates footage in the trailer was "GameFAQs is gonna have a field day with this".
