I forgot Statue Mario
Anyway I've been requested to not upload large amounts of palette flashes, so that will bump down the 271 combinations to 24 to be uploaded.
Every possible (as in, feasible to actually witness in gameplay) invincibility flash combination in SMB3.
You'll notice some sections are blank; either those palette combinations only occur before the power-up is available, or the power-up cannot reach the area where the palette combination is...
Update: There are three sizes of Thwomp in SMG, and an additional larger size added for SMG2. The "Big Thwomp" from the Supermassive Galaxy is a separate object from all of the aforementioned ones, which can be told easiest by the fact that its inward-pointing triangles around its rim are filled...
Not with absolute I-have-verified-in-the-data-100% certainty, but from what I can tell they undoubtably share a model, just with edited parameters (and I'm not quite sure yet which is the "normal" size used elsewhere, if either). Several other trap-type things in the game (boulders, rolling...
So I recently learned that "wasp" actually covers all hymenopterans that didn't branch into the sawfly lineage, thanks to the amount of "stingless wasps" that are called such (like ichneumons). Because of this, the "stinging wasps" also includes all bees (and the bee group itself apparently...
Menu palette transitions in Golf: U.S. Course for the Famicom Disk System. Posting this here so I can anchor it for elsewhere, but it's still pretty interesting to see how those fades worked in the early days.
This image always throws me for a loop. Because of the pipe frame and the dodgy render quality, I always think "Oh that's from Mario Kart 64," but then I remember Koopa Troopa's not even in Mario Kart 64.
Early iteration of the "Real Time" head, most (in)famously used in Mario Teaches Typing 2 (and the memes it's spawned), though the SM64 one is likely a heavily downscaled version of it.
This manages to be even creepier than the final one with those unbeveled eye holes; though the dark shading on...
Yeah, and I'm wanting to change the classification of said actors into Big Boos proper (ie, the ones that in most cases are standard enemies), the "Boss Boo" who wasn't given a consistent localization or design, and King Boo proper - who was given a redesign intended for "Boss Boo" that combined...
That is because a majority of the names are in-game regardless of language. Every guidebook has treated them as a singular entity across languages, though, from what I can tell, as does Mario Portal. For what it's worth, "Oyakata" has specific connotations that indicate there being just one...
Fair warning, this is gonna be a long one; see this discussion and this draft page. :boo:
We all know how many iterations the famed "Big Boo" enemy/boss has gone through. But what if I told you that mixed in with those, is an individual recurring character we've completely overlooked?
This...
