Emulator

I've heard from a number of places about using emulators to open console games on a computer by obtaining a ROM from somewhere. Simply downloading it from the Internet is pirating, but there's supposedly a legal way to get the game's ROM. Can anyone tell me exactly how one would go about doing that? And if this section of the forum is even the right place to ask?

This question would be better suited for another forum entirely. We do not typically deal with these types of things.

I would be remiss if I did not tell you that the legality of any activity in this field is rather... ambiguous. Even a supposedly legal way of obtaining an ROM may not be entirely legal.
