I didn't have room for another F-Zero character in my roster (plus, I heard a rumor stating that there will be no new Mother or F-Zero characters), but if there were to be a new F-Zero character, I'd like Samurai Goroh to appear.

John Tanaka is a reference to Hirokazu "Hip" Tanaka.

Zoda may be a Startropics reference, but that may just be coincidence.
