-The DKC cartoon is set before DKC. Think about it: In the DKC cartoon, DK's the future ruler of Congo Bongo. DKC is set on DK island and even has a shaped mountain.

Light and Darkness. Light cannot exist without Darkness, and Darkness cannot exist without Light. Mario is the hero of light in the Light Prognosticus, while Dimentio is the dark one in the Dark Prognosticus. Possibly due to this, Light cannot exist without Mario, and Darkness cannot exist without Dimentio. So if Mario dies, Light dies too. And if Dimentio dies, so does Darkness. Therefore, if one of them were to die, the Light/Dark balance would be broken. Luigi, and the Chaos Heart survived being defeated, making it likely that Dimentio did too. Mario lives after Super Paper Mario, and the Light/Dark balance is still intact. If Dimentio had died, this balance most likely would not have been maintained, and the same would go for if Mario had died, which he did not. This greatly hints that Dimentio is still alive.
