They are from the really old Kirby games. I know some of them from the original GB games.

I never knew what they were until I read the articles on the older games on WiKirby

What games are these guys from? I've played Kirby's Return to Dream Land, Kirby Air Ride, and the very first Kirby game (Kirby's Adventure I think it was called). Oh, and I've played a demo of Mass Attack. Are they in any of those?

The Animal Friends only appear in Kirby's Dream Land 2, Kirby's Dream Land 3, and some puzzle game I've never played. They have cameos in Kirby 64 and a few other games.

Also, Coo gets bonus points for rad theme music.

So what do they do in the game for you?

Rick improves your traction on ice and can climb walls.
Coo improves your flying ability.
Kine improves your swimming ability.
I can't really recall what the other 2 do.

They also augment whatever copy ability you're using.

They sometimes show up as different Stone transformations.
