Sig spacing

This isn't really a big problem or anything but why does my sig begin at such a large gap from the text that I type? On my profile I started the sig code from the first line of the box so why does it have such a big space? I don't mind it too much but I just wonder if it's easily fixable. Any replies is appreciated.

The quick-edit icon and the report to mod/IP address things are in between your post and your sig, that's why.
