Dixie Kong: 13 (Excluding DKC remake) (If excluding Mario appearances, 10)
Funky Kong: 6 (If excluding Mario appearances, 5)
Tiny Kong: 4 (First design was only 1) (If excluding Mario appearances, 3)
Lanky Kong: 2
Chunky Kong: 1
Cranky Kong: 3
Wrinkly Kong: 2
Kiddy Kong: 2 (Excluding DKC remake)
Swanky Kong: 0
Candy Kong: 0
King K. Rool: 3 (If excluding Mario appearances, 2)

It looks possible Funky should return in Mario Kart Wii U.
Dixie should return in 2013...

Woops, I've count DK character as Kong.
Subject fix now.

I made an old topic about all characters in Mario spinoffs. However, if you include DK mainstream games, that's not a problem comparing with recent SMB games, which allow no other playable characters besides two bros.
Swanky or Cranky are getting minor in DK series, and Cranky/Wrinkly could be Toadsworth to Mario series. If we want to give all characters enough appearances, we need more games. Too bad we heard no news from Nintendo recently.

Spinoff part is what I concern more, since Diddy have obviously excessive appearances than many other kongs. And in a general view, I'd like to see playable characters from other subseries next time .

Pauline might count in this list, if she's half-relevant. And King K. Rool should have somewhat more appearances as a major boss, if he's treated as Bowser in DK series.

DK characters have own series. Donkey, Diddy, Dixie, Funky and Cranky are main character in DK games.
Dixie would appear in Mario & Sonic 2014? I expected one.

I'm slightly confused on this one. So there has been a remake in the last four years with dixie and kiddy kong? Or are you talking about the vc version of donkey kong country 3?

I would much rather Dixie replace Funky in Mario Kart. Heck Dixie just needs to make a big comeback.

It would be cool to see King K. Rool as aplayble character, and not in a sports game, a platformer. i was a little dissapointed to see K. Rool wasn't in DKC or DKC3D <(obvisoubly because it's a remake) but i also think it would be cool to put him in the next smash game!
