Plants vs. Zombies 2: It's About Time ( Update: The Future has arrived!)

LN1

L - N - 1
Moderately late news.

So, you probably already know the first one, which is still played to date and will keep its popularity for quite a while.

At some point, in late 2012 I think, PopCap announced they would make a sequel. Now, if you want a source, just go search in your search engine(I don't want to offend any non-Google user)"plants vs. zombies 2 announced". (No Let Me Google That For You here. It types irritably slow).

So, any thoughts?

Edit: The above was while this topic was about PvZ2 being announced.

Edit2: Future!

Re: Plants vs. Zombies 2 announced

Hm...sounds cool. All I really want is a balanced game. I mean, EVERY plant in the original had something to offer, and no matter how powerful your plants were, there were still zombies that could mess up your game. It was very well-balanced.

Re: Plants vs. Zombies 2 announced

I Have Plants VS Zombies 1 on my 3DS this version will be much better.

Re: Plants vs. Zombies 2 announced

Can't wait to play the next one. The first one was very addictive and hard to put down. Let's hope they make pvz2 just as fun and addictive.

"PopCap has announced that Plants vs. Zombies 2: It’s About Time will hit iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch worldwide on July 18th. The game will be free-to-play with upgrades and in-game items available for purchase, though PopCap notes that “players can face every zombie and access every level in every world at no cost.” "

Oh, no. I'm not going to say it's automatically ruined, but, well...it probably will be because of this.

The original was good because it DIDN'T encourage you to buy things every 5 seconds.

Re: Plants vs. Zombies 2 announced

I bought the original game (in HD), and the option to buy the in-game currency was in the game... I kind of wish they did it like that...

Re: Plants vs. Zombies 2 announced

Aaand that is why I should read the whole thread before posting.

Apologies.

Oh, god, help me.

It's apparently out now in Australia for...some reason. From what I've seen from my "find the cash-grab" game, you have to pay 3$ each to unlock the Snow Pea, Squash, Jalapeno and Torchwood.

Still kind of sucks regardless... Australia always seems to get the shaft when it comes to games... either that, or it's the industry's personal guinea pig.

Re: Plants vs. Zombies 2 announced

OK, I've played a few levels so far, so I'll tell you my opinion of it.

It's...ok, so far. No one's been trying to make me pay for anything yet, the plant food which gives temporary 'super' modes to a plant has a max capacity of 3 at all times, and you get plant food from some zombies in every level. The only problem I have is that each level doesn't give a new plant. So a lot of the levels are very samey because you have the same plants for a few levels. I do like the new boomerang plant, though.

EDIT: So, after level 6 it opened the store. Luckily, there isn't any special cash-only currency, only coins, which you can get normally. But you do have to pay actual money to get those plants. You can also buy bonuses, like getting a sun refund when shovelling a plant up, or starting the game with 25 sun, or an extra plant slot. These things have the actual price on it, it doesn't say "for 25 gems" or anything stupid like that

EDIT 2: I found where the money can come from. In the world map, you have locked paths that can only be opened with a certain number of keys, that can be found as zombie drops. I have 2 keys by level 10. The locked doors require 3-5 keys minimum. They contain plants (the Grave Buster and Twin Sunflower) and a bunch of levels. You could farm for keys, or you could, you know, unlock it for $1.99!
