If you listen closely in the Sound Test, the announcer clearly says "Mee-lee".
But other people pronounce it differently.

I've also heard "melee" pronounced "meh-lay".

But I say "mee-lee", and so does my copy of SSBM, last I checked, as well as everyone else I've talked to about SSBM. *shrugs*
