Why can't I install this font?

I want to use the font "Hey Gorgeous" which is the font used in the Paper Mario games, but I can't get it to work for some reason. I previously had a problem in which it would disappear every time I rebooted, and all I had to do there was drag it into the "Fonts" folder again. But now it won't even show up in the preview, even after I re-downloaded it, upon opening it it looks like this:

as if there are no characters to the font. This is very strange, how can I fix it? Also, I can't do anything limited to an administrator because my mom has my account set up so only she can do certain things (even though I'm 18) and she's either gone or asleep most of the time. Help is appreciated, thanks! :eekdance:

I did it before without administrator rights, by dragging the file into the "Fonts" folder in Control Panel. Every time I rebooted, however, it was gone. Now, though, it seems like an empty file with no data, no characters, I don't really know how to explain it, I thought the picture I put kind of shows what I'm up against...

I re-downloaded it and everything, the new file is also empty.

Hmm. Can you link to the file in question?
I've already closed that tab, but this link is given in Downloads:

http://www.mediafont.com/dl.html?d=9704

I doubt there's anything wrong with the file, though, I think it's my computer...

I looked at the file you linked. It seems okay, but you indeed need Administrator rights to successfully install it.

Check the font of this sentence. If your font is installed, it should follow that font.
I was only able to see your sentence when I quoted your post and read it in the editor. Highlighting there revealed a white space; the font doesn't work. Another thing: My mom gave my account administrative rights one day, yet things still claimed I wasn't an administrator. Is that some kind of glitch?

When a font isn't installed, the default font should be used... The text shouldn't disappear. Why it disappeared at yours I don't know, probably the font is installed, but incorrectly.

Edit: try going to the Control Panel and there the fonts. Look if Hey Gorgeous is in there, then try deleting it.

Just looked, it's not there.

what i do whenever i download a font

is extract the files

then in the file itself, should be a truetype font

drag that onto the fonts file in control panel, and it'll automatically install the font

that's what works for me, idk about you though

That's what I do too.

Except this time, I drag it into "Fonts" folder and it acts like an empty file, like something in it is missing.

Also every other time I've done it, it deletes itself upon reboot.

I have a copy of the file in this ZIP. Try unpacking the file, then doubleclick the TFF file. Then click the Install button at the top of the window.

I never install fonts by dragging them to the fonts folder.
I doubleclicked the TTF file, and I got the same window as the picture I posted above.
