An Earthbound-inspired game that Toby "Radiation" Fox, who makes some of the Homestuck music, is working on. You can download the demo here, and the Kickstarter is found here.
I didn't play the whole demo, from what I've played it seems pretty cool. It's an RPG with awesome music where enemies attack you in a top-down shooter-esque manner, and you have the ability to converse with enemies and spare killing them. It's also pretty funny, so I would check it out.

maybe it would be cool if you talked to some of them, they would join you. but only certain enemy's.
maybe the weakest enemy could have awesome abilities later on.
