Techniques for Melee's Home-Run Contest

N64 Yoshi's Island is the last thing I need to unlock in Melee, and in order to unlock it, you have to get 1,364 ft. or so in distance. I can't even get 1,200. Does anyone have any strategies for getting high distance in the Home-Run Contest?

Note: I'm horrible at bat dropping, and I can't do the freeze glitch no matter how hard I try.

spam smash up with ganondorf until the sandbag reaches the 100% percent and then homerun it.
