Is there a way to ignore a thread?

I know you can ignore boards and stuff. But can you ignore a thread? Because there are just some threads I don't really want to bother checking and rather have them not show up as "New" or on the side thing.
 
I'm afraid that isn't possible. This was once a suggestion on the Suggestions thread.
