Something really dumb I always wondered about Partners in Time

Early in the game, you're supposed to go in a room of the castle and use a switch to make appear a pipe that connects to the sewers. However, it's perfectly possible to proceed without activating the pipe. Much later, you're thrown in the sewers and you need to take that pipe to go to the castle and continue the game.

So yeah, what happens if you didn't activate the pipe? Are you stuck there? I suppose there's a failsafe to prevent the game from being unwinnable (seeing as there is one in Gritzy Desert), but I'm not risking making a playthrough potentially unwinnable to find out.

I wondered that too.

I think that you had to open the Pipe before you could go through Gritzy Desert, but don't quote me on that. Usually they have fool-proof techniques to prevent an error like that.

Maybe the pipe would be already activated when you're down there?

If so, sounds like a bad glitch. Can't be as bad as a glitch as in Skyward Sword.

I never experienced that glitch (assuming we are talking about the Dragon quest), because I never went to the desert first.

I did. I'm a fool. What's worse, I could've avoided it completely, because I did the desert first, and then for it to trigger, you had to talk to a specific person, I didn't and went to the volcano area. And then after to go to the desert again (I think I went there to get material to upgrade), I talked to the character.

Nothing happens. I'm fairly certain I've done this and when it's time to go back to the castle through the sewers... The game just continues.

Though, it's been forever since I last played this game.
