I noticed Super Mario 3D World was styled more like SM3DL in that there is a time limit and a flagpole, rather than the other console 3D Mario titles, where you collected something, (Power Stars in SM64/DS/SMG/2 and Shine Sprites in SMS) and each course had multiple missions. Does this mean we won't see this type of game again? I personally prefer having multiple missions in each course to having a goal and time-limit (I know there's Star Coins but still). Maybe it's the exploration, I dunno. It's not the decisive factor in my purchase of it, there is still a 99% chance I'll get SM3DW, but just wondering. Have they scrapped that old formula permanently? That really would be a shame. (I haven't played Sunshine, but I thoroughly enjoyed all the others)

it's all part of Nintendo's ultimate goal to make every Mario game a version of NSMB

that was only a minor mistake in their mischievious plans

i dont know DT and LM2DM seemed to escape the NSMB curse

Not even Mario Party can avoid it.
