It doesn't. It is currently 11:05 GMT. Because of Daylight Saving, Britain follows BST, which is currently 12:05.

GMT seems to work ok for me, that's what I see whenever I check my time and date on the internet

why would they call it Greenwich if it wasn't British time, Greenwich is a district of south east London, what you on about mate

GMT is the world standard. While you are in the same region, due to Daylight Saving it's one hour later for half a year.
