So I was on MiiVerse, going through the Rayman Legends community, where this guy who calls himself "Wii U News", and posts regular news regarding the Wii U and various games and stuff associated with Nintendo on Miiverse. One post on the Rayman Legends community said that Ubisoft confirmed that a game called "Child of Light" would be released for the Wii U eShop sometime in 2014. Curious by this, I decided to search YouTube to see if there's a trailer, and sure enough:

The game is a "platforming RPG", with platform jumping and turn-based battles, and has a young female protagonist (which I consider a major plus, the gaming industry desperately needs more female protagonists and ones that AREN'T just eye-candy... or Hell, even hot as a bonus, I'm getting rather annoyed by that honestly).

The game is also being developed by UbiArt Framework, who previously worked on Rayman Origins and the aforementioned Rayman Legends. The game definitely looks beautiful, and feels reminiscent of some of the design choices from those two games, particularly Legends.

I don't know that much about this game, I'll probably look up more later, but for now, I just wanted to make a topic about this, spread the word, you know?

this game has sparked heated debate across the internet over the semantics of the term "JRPG", and I find it infinitely hilarious

Yeah, maybe we should call it something different, since not all games with JRPG elements come from Japan. Not to mention, I thought of Western RPGs, and does this count as one, since Europe is technically in the Eastern hemisphere?

As a woman, I'm already strongly annoyed by the depiction of women in video games, but that's a different topic.

Anyway, I'm curious about this game, and I don't know a lot about it. I need to find out later.
