Top 20 Directors

Yeah, I can get down with this list. Good job.

though you're missing a few greats there

I'm surprised James Cameron isn't on there considering Titanic is your favorite movie.

The only glaring omissions for me are Spielberg and Ishiro Honda. Kurosawa is also good.

Also, I despise Shaymalan. I can never forgive him for The Last Airbender.

who the hell is david o. russell and why have i never heard of him before

also i concur with gp on shyamalan

Peter Jackson in not in the top 10? 3/10 for that list. I can't wait until he starts making the Temeraire series after The Hobbit.

Also, if the Dragonriders of Pern ever gets a movie adaption, whoever is the director might jump to number 1.

Titanic is only one movie I love from him, other than that the rest are overrated

David O. Russell directed Silver Lining's Playbook and The Fighter and the upcoming American Hustle

Also Spielberg is overrated the only movies I like are Lincoln, Tintin and Catch Me If You Can

I'd personally leave him out only because he hasn't really had an "original" hit yet. Don't get me wrong, he's done phenomenal adaptations, but for me at least launching your own franchise is the line between "great" and "outstanding".

Shyamalan is too high on the list. The Sixth Sense was great, Unbreakable was good, Signs was meh, but everything after that was godawful.

The Village sucked.
Lady in the Water sucked.
The Happening sucked.
The Last Airbender sucked.
After Earth sucked.

What do you mean too high? He's number 20 because of those movies, though I still trust him

Eh, I don't really care, epsecially since many movies these days are adaptions.

I meant be shouldn't be on the list at all. Also, where's Quentin Tarantino?

Other than that, it's a decent list.
[size=1pt]PLOT TWIST! M. Night Shyamalan worked on Stuart Little.

Like Spielberg Tarentino is overrated, only difference is I only like 3 of Spielberg's movies but as for Tarentino I don't like any of his movies, because his movies are way too bloody than they need to be, I don't mind blood in films but watching a Tarentino film is like watching a movie that's directed by some punk who loves to have blood splatter all over the place, though I read he's planning on doing a romantic comedy in the future I would like to see him do one, it would be nice to see him take a break from that crap

the only reason Tarantino and Spielberg are overrated is because their movies actually deserve to be overrated

have you seen the shit they create? I rate them higher than most directors

Yeah. Just look at Spielberg's track record. He's a producer for some of these though.

Jaws
Close Encounters of the Third Kind
The Blues Brothers (Producer)
Raiders of the Lost Ark
E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial
Poltergeist
Gremlins (Producer)
Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom
Back to the Future (Producer)
An American Tail (Producer)
Th Land Before Time (Producer)
Who Framed Roger Rabbit (Producer)
Back to the Future Part II (Producer)
Indiana Jones and the Last Crusade
Back to the Future Part III (Producer)
Jurassic Park
Schindler's List
The Lost World: Jurassic Park
Men in Black (Producer)
Saving Private Ryan
Super 8 (Producer)
The Adventures of Tintin
Lincoln

Look at all these films he's had a hand in.

And sadly, only one has ever won an Oscar.

Schindler's List
Which is really a shame.

For example, a movie like Jaws deserves an Oscar. It's a fantastic film. Robert Shaw's portrayal of Quint is amazing and may just be the best part of the movie.

My mistake. Jaws won three Oscars that year. I meant to say never won an Oscar for Best Picture.

Btw, One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest beat Jaws that year.

which is why I don't see many directors these days as "outstanding" to begin with.

That's understandable. Both are good films.
