Animal Planet

Donkey Kong
As a kid, I always loved the Animal Planet channel. I can remember coming home from school and getting ready to watch it.

At 5:00pm, it was The Jeff Corwin Experience
At 6:00pm, it was The Crocodile Hunter
At 7:00pm, it was The Most Extreme

This was a lot of my childhood. Steve Irwin and Jeff Corwin made me interested in animals like crocodiles and snakes.

However, ever since 2008, Animal Planet has been different. Nowadays, they're geared towards entertainment and reality TV. Some of the new shows even seem to demonize animals. This whole change bothers me. I miss the days of The Crocodile Hunter. Steve Irwin entertained us while educating us. I loved all those cool documentaries about ocean life. They taught us that even sharks and crocodiles are beautiful and amazing creatures.

So how about you guys? Did you grow up with Animal Planet? If so, what do you think about the the new Animal Planet?

I remember those shows. Animal Planet Zooventure was also an entertaining and informative game show for its time and demographic. I've no thoughts on the new Animal Planet since I haven't watched that channel in years.

I think I used to watch it, but then I stopped and never went back

I watched it somewhat often several years ago. I haven't seen that much of the more recent shows, but I know what you mean. I guess the faux documentaries that are brought up every now and then don't help.

I used to watch it constantly, but I stopped somewhere when they changed their motto to "suprisning human", which by the way, is such a terrible motto, it discourages me from even watching anything from that channel at any time.
