Since this has taken over the Super Mario 3D World Board, why not a thread of it's own? I have beaten the level without powerups, but it was with Peach. I would like to know if it is possible as Mario, Toad, etc without powerups.I do not want t waste my time. But I really want to at least try to best it as Mario without powerups. But should I feel guilty if I don't? Lemme explain:

I will take on any challenge Nintendo can throw at me. But I certainly will not create artificial difficulty for myself. IE, avoiding powerups throughout the game, avoiding Mushroom houses, etc. Since Nintendo ALLOWS you to enter the level with a Tanooki suit, is deliberantly not taking one creating artificial gamer-made difficulty?

Since the level might be impossible as Mario, Toad, and possibly Luigi, could Nintendo have EXPECTED you to bringa Tanooki suit? Anyway, I still would like to try to beat it without one, first as Mario.

The beap block part and the final segment are the only two segments with intense difficulty. If ONLY I could find a way to clear the beat block part then I could have it beat without a Tanooki in a jiffy!

Edit: I just beat it as Mario no powerup. I stood between those damn beep blocks.

It sucks. I beat it as Toad, while my sister used Mario and my brother used Luigi.

We also used no powerups. And my sister got a sore neck after this.

I was able to beat it not as Rosalina or Toadstool when I read your post about how you and Baby Luigi did not stand between those blocks. I assume you did not know about it at the time? But it helped me get to the upper beatblock. I assume it is much, much easier with three players, like you did, because only one has to survive and the others can come back in bubbles as long as you don't run outta lives. And plus you can bounce off one another, which could be criticically helpful in the part with those blocks to get to the upper ones in time.

I'd like for you and your sister to let me know why you agree or disagree with this assessment.

We didn't know that. We can get past the segment without standing between the blocks, though. The problem in the Beep Block segment is that the camera pans too far, so we get put into a bubble automatically and the rest fall to their doom, making us restart the level.

The bouncing off one another is more of a nuisance than a help, and it has claimed more lives than we'd like.

There is only one part where you get cheap-shotted: When going for the key coin in the lower-right-hand-side there is a beam you cannot see due to the angle of the camera.

That wall-jump section is an awful section because timing jumps in this game is terrible.

I thought that was the easiest section at least contextually speaking.

The deaths that felt the worst were the ones where you would mess up on a part you have gotten past dozens of times already when you just wanted to get back to where you were or a little further. Do you agree?

The death panel part was the hardest, but the good thing is it needed only be cleared once!

How do you rank each individual section in terms of difficulty?

And lastly, do you agree Mario is the hardest to beat it with with no powerup because he has no special abilities to take advantage of? With Luigi you have his amazing leaps, with Toad you have his speed, and the other two goes without saying.

It isn't hard, but it is painful. Again, timing the jumps is strange, especially if you're accustomed to New Super Mario Bros. (which did its job better).

This is why numerous checkpoints are important, and simply not adding them is a terrible way to make the level actually challenging.

First section:
Jump, jump, long jump, long jump. Glass pipe. Easy.

Second section:
Go to the middle, jump, avoid Fire Bro., jump, avoid Fire Bro., short jump, run across blocks, jump on Chargin' Chuck, jump. Short hop, run across blocks, jump over Chargin' Chucks, jump again over Chargin' Chucks. Straightforward.

Third section:
After the first part, the second part is tricky, but is easy. Those stairs, though! Why??

Fourth section:
Magikoopas. They're pathetic.

Fifth section:
Meh, can avoid those swinging things and Fuzzies with ease. Whatever. Who gives a care about that Piranha Plant?

Sixth section:
C'mon, do a boosted jump! No! Do it, damn it, why aren't you DOING IT!?

Seventh section:
Boring. Water and spikes.

Eight section:
Can't stop moving. Stupid weird hitboxes of the shockwaves! That camera, too! Ugh!

Ninth section:
Thank you! Thank you? Go to hell, level designers.

Mario is MY character of choice. I think Luigi is actually HARDER than Mario because his floaty jump has claimed him more lives in the Beep Block part than Mario. Why can't Mario be special for once? No, I don't mean being special by not being special.
