I want to get into the whole LOTR/Hobbit series.

I've been meaning to watch these movies for some time now. With the next Hobbit movie having the Godzilla trailer attached, I figured this would be as good a time as any.

I know the Hobbit takes place first, but the LOTR trilogy was made first. Which one do I watch first.

Note, I have no knowledge of this series whatsoever.
 
watch the lord of the rings movies first

the hobbit (movie) has a bunch of stuff that calls back to LotR
 
you can find pretty much anything on amazon, if you're willing to wait.

but yeah, you can probably find them at target. last time i checked they have a huge selection of movies and lotr is so popular they're bound to have it.
 
LOTR is superior trilogy in my opinion so i'd recommend getting that first as well (extended versions if possible since the extended editions do make more sense).But if you wanna go in chronological order order, Hobbit would obviously come first.Though The Hobbit trilogy as a whole won't be completely out till next year.
