As you can see, my fave is Men Without Hats. I also like the Information Society, Naked Eyes, Queen, and Matthew Wilder. What about you guys?

The Alan Parsons Project and The Blues Brothers.

I don't know much music from the 80s, but I like Queen and Karma Chameleon by Culture Club is one of my favourite songs.

Those were movies

The Alan Parsons Project wasn't a movie... was it?

And the Blues Brothers did release actual albums, and weren't just a movie.

Bam.

Ok my bad

My favorite band that put stuff out in the 80s is Electric Light Orchestra (although they're my favorite band period), but I really enjoyed the stuff Rush, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison, Traveling Wilburys, and The Moody Blues put out in the 80s too. Queen's 80s stuff wasn't bad either.

I'm not trying to be mean, I'm just curious: have you actually heard any other songs by Information Society, Naked Eyes, and Matthew Wilder, other than their biggest hits ("What's On Your Mind (Pure Energy)", "Always Something There To Remind Me", and "Break My Stride", respectively)? I don't know many people that have, and it honestly bugs me when people say they "like" a band when they've only heard one or two songs by them.

I could be wrong, for all I know, maybe you have listened to some of their other songs. I'm just wondering, since it would be really interesting to know of someone other than me that likes to delve into a one-hit wonder's discography and see what else they've done.

Simple Minds, the Human League, Frankie Goes to Hollywood, the Cure, Talking Heads, Madness, Tears for Fears, Level 42, Queen, ABC, Yes, Siouxsie and the Banshees, Electric Light Orchestra, XTC, Spandau Ballet, Duran Duran, Heaven 17

Narrowing it down to 17 was very hard.

I don't necessarily do that with one-hit wonders, but I sometimes do that with bands I only know a couple of songs by.

Well, it's their opinion, deal with it

It's more of the fact that I don't really think people can actually say they "like" a band as a whole if they haven't heard more than 1 or 2 songs by them. Just one of my pet peeves, don't mind it :P

You shouldn't let other petty stuff get on your nerves, especially if they have nothing to do with you and aren't disputing their opinion. After all, the song HAS to be played by the entire band anyway, which is still a reason to like a band for one song.

Information Society and Matthew Wilder no, but Naked Eyes my favorites is "Promises, Promises"

And btw: you can like a band even when you only like one song.

That's a great Naked Eyes song. I think I might like it more than "Always Something There to Remind Me" because it's not as overplayed on the radio.

And yeah, I guess it's all about mindset. Personally, I can never say that I like a band unless I've checked out a considerable amount of their songs. From what I've seen with the one-hit wonders, though, it's usually a hit or miss, since some of them have really great unknown gems in their discography aside from that one hit, while others (like The Vapors)...not so much.

Information Society have some really interesting songs aside from "What's On Your Mind", though, I recommend checking out some more of the album it's on.
