So I have an 11-carat lapis lazuli with OK clarity. Anyone happen to know how much it'll sell for?

It's real, alright. There's a Vocaloid character named and based off of it, actually.

On topic, though, I don't know exactly how much it'll sell for, but you could probably go to a jeweler and have them identify it or something

7.28ctw Royal Blue Lapis Lazuli sells for $12.38

Why would you ever sell a gemstone? You need to hang on to each and every one you get forever and never let anyone else touch them.

yeah this

they'll be pretty handy when the us dollar collapses and the only currency recognized by everyone is either guns, gold/silver, or jewels

it's funny because outside of jewelry gold and silver have no real uses except in electronics and chemistry and would be worthless as currency in a post apocalyptic world

also don't sell it

attach it to the end of a long gold cane

become a pimp

Isn't the point of currency not to be useful, but to provide a reference of value and thereby simplify bartering? If the selling point of a good currency would be it's inability to be counterfeited or easily obtained, then that means rare materials have an advantage, regardless of how useful they are.
