Edit: Oh crap, I forgot a really crucial detail! Thankfully, someone on another forum brought it up an reminded me:
So I was on Equestria Daily (a really popular My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic variety blog), when I came across this strange post:
http://www.equestriadaily.com/2014/02/double-fine-kicks-off-amnesia-fortnight.html
Apparently, Double Fine Productions, the creators of such games as Psychonauts, Brutal Legend, and now Broken Age, contacted Equestria Daily and told them about a new game they're making: Steed!

Apparently, you place as a horse, and in the game you have to defend the completely ineffectual heroes from danger. Definitely sounds like an awesome game premise to me!
Still, the fact that they would contact Equestria Daily about this is strange, since horses aside, there doesn't seem to be anything specifically related to MLP in this game. It almost makes me think that they specifically did this to get the Bronies on board, since as we all know, the mere mention of MLP is enough to get the attention of the ENTIRE Internet, for better or for worse. Although John Bernhelm did post a comment on the article explaining himself:
Hi guys - this is John from Double Fine! (couldn't respond earlier because I was stuck driving in a snow storm all day yesterday!)
I'm sorry to those of you who were offended - I did not mean any disrespect to the community by submitting to EQD. I just sent a friendly e-mail hoping to get the word out about this game I'm passionate about making. I hoped that people who like the humor, charm, and the emphasis on friendships between diverse characters of MLP would also really dig the Amnesia Fortnight event, the Steed pitch, and Double Fine games in general!
So to confirm - this wasn't a ploy by the Double Fine Marketing Department (we don't have a marketing department), there was no money involved (what money? The pitch was done in my spare time), yes I'm hoping to spread the word to folks that might be interested in supporting this game and our event in general, and you'll likely not hear anything more about this unless we actually get to make it and I can get some pony easter eggs in
Thanks for your time, and have an awesome weekend!
Well okay, I can understand this. Hell, I'm the same way; whenever I'm excited about something I go around promoting it wherever I can... Like I'm doing right now! :P
The game isn't coming out, but it can be voted on in Double Fine's Amnesia Fortnight, where you can vote on a number of different project pitches and they will make a prototype of it. I think it's how Costume Quest came about? I don't really know, but I love the idea behind the event in general. Here's the link for those interested, where you can back and vote on the projects, as well as one where Pendleton Ward of Adventure Time and Bravest Warriors fame leads!

And in the humble weekly bundle, you can get a whole bunch of Double Fine's games as well, and if you pay enough, you get Spacebase DF-9 as well!
