Anyone else wish the WarioWare characters appeared more often?

Nintendo's been quite liberal about merchandising the Donkey Kong Country characters and having them appear in Mario medias (to the point even the awesomely horrible Bluster Kong has shown up in atleast one manga), but for whatever reason, the same can't be said for the WarioWare cast. The series is barely referenced in the spinoffs, there's very little merchandise of it and its characters and nobody besides Wario is featured in promo material.

Personally, I think it's a bit of a waste. Ko Takeuchi's creations are some of the most fun and lively design to come out of Nintendo in the past 10 years. There's more that could be done with them beside bookending minigame compilations.

Do you agree with the sentiment expressed in the title? Would you like to see WW characters show up in the sports/karting spinoff Mario games (and if so, which characters)? Do you think Ashley getting a good, usable 3D model for Extreme Pugilist Fraternity 4 could pave the way for more WW content to appear in Mario spinoff titles? Why do I ask so many useless questions?

I definitely think they deserve time in Mario games. They are technically Wario characters after all. But you know the deal with Wario characters: they'll just stay in their respective series just like Captain Syrup

yes

The entire cast of WarioWare can be summed up with two words, wasted potential. Each character is unique and brimming with personality, and would fit right in alongside the main series cast. It's just a shame that Nintendo would rather include 7 generic Koopas in their next Kart game instead of Mona and her moped or Dribble and Spitz in their taxi.

I'm excited that Ashley has a 3D model in Smash Bros. (though the G&W style is a bit...meh), and I'm hoping that there are trophies for each of the others. Hopefully their appearances in the next Smash Bros. prompt Nintendo to incoroporate them other into spin-offs.

havent really played enough of warioware to form an opinion on the characters to be frank with you

although some are pretty interesting design wise, and i feel the series could use some better representation, but oh well.

I kinda like Wario Land's boss and enemy design, but I don't really see any character beside Captain Syrup fitting in elegantly tbh.

... Well ok, Jock Bunny for mario hoops 2.

I wouldn't mind seeing some of the WarioWare characters show up in Sports and Kart and such. It likely won't happen anytime soon, unfortunately.

Rudy the Clown made the jump from WL to Dr. Mario iirc.

Anyway, I agree that the WarioWare cast deserves to be seen more often. It'd be awesome to have an RPG where they're Wario's partners (Paper Wario? With paper money being a major theme, lol), or as was mentioned before, have them as a sports team for the guy (it's more fitting than random Koopa Troop members getting reassigned to him). If they could get all 7 Koopalings in Mario Kart, surely they could fir the WarioWare crew into the spinoff rosters too.

Even though some kongs like Diddy and Dixie do have some spinoff favors, honesly the DK characters are also in danger. Their total appearances in Wii era are obviously fewer than before, and in the upcoming Tropical Freeze only Dixie and Funky are confirmed to return so far.

Another issue is that, though Mario games try to add some "newcomers" recently, they all result in weird choices rather than giving subseries stars a chance. It's pretty conrtadictory for Nintendo themselves.

This. I still doubt why Wario bros have to team up with a bunch of species. Koopalings have shown in Kart so maybe they'll be in Bowser's team this time.

Not sure if Syrup is in this topic since she's only returned once so far and isn't an official Mario regular (despite she's an amazing villainess). It is a question mark for Warioware crew, same for Waluigi who never accompanies with Wario in any Wario-titled games.

Since Tropical Freeze would follow SM3DW to have multiple playable characters, we might see the same thing in future possible Wario Land sequel, which allows Waluigi, Mona and Jimmy to play with Wario. Unless once again Nintendo force Toad to assist Wario (or even worse, some generic toads).

I have only played one Wario game (Wario: Master of Disguise) but I agree that every subseries of Mario should have debut characters who reappear in rosters of other Mario games like the many Party, Kart, Sports and other multiplayer titles. This includes the WarioWare characters (who I'm surprised are getting the shaft while DK characters keep appearing)

I do like WarioWare characters to appear outside their respective games. Also... maybe we can have some Mario characters in the WarioWare games as reciprocation so we can essentially link the two worlds together.

well there is You Scratch Mine

I know, but they're mere cameos.

If the two worlds happened to be interconnected, then we can see more interaction between the two, and therefore, they have better chances to appear in more games. :)

A placed called Diamond City appeared in the Mario Kart Arcade GP games but that's all the similarities it has to the one in WarioWare

I'm not asking for Koopas or Toads to replace potential new WarioWare characters, by the way. I just want to see Mario characters in the background or something.

Regardless of Waluigi who's been debatable in this series, I agree with this to a degree. Some crossover cameos are okay, but remember that subseries are the only place where the exclusive characters can shine. Unless there is a crossover title like Mario v.s. DK. Generally the sport spinoffs are where all characters can equally shine together.

Cameo appearances don't really show the true side of the whole Mario world, but only simply show the generic civilians from Mushroom Kingdom. Well, if Nintendo really have time to make Mona's model sitting in the spectatory, they would consider to make her a racer or a racing cheerleader.

When I was playing a few rounds of Mario Party 8, I've been wondering why the WarioWare gang hasn't been in other Mario spin-off games. While Mario attends the Olympics with Sonic and his friends, plays sports games with the Final Fantasy people, and board games with the Dragon Quest crew, the other WarioWare employess get left behind. I told a friend about that and came up with a humorous explanation for it, which I'll paste into the spoilers to save space.
9-Volt: Hey, Wario? How come Mario never invites the company to go go-karting or golfing or his parties or anything in general?

Wario: That's-a because only the most-a famous friends of his can join in!

*3 weeks before*

Mario: Yoo-hoo! Wario! Can you-a hand these-a invitations to my-a party to everyone at-a WarioWare, Inc., please?

Wario: Um... Sure, buddy!

*4 days later*

Wario: Sorry but-a everyone has-a plans that day!

Mario: How odd... It-a seems that whenever I have an event, all of your-a friends can't-a come!

Wario: *gulp!*

Mario: Oh well! There's always-a next-a time!
I would have loved to see some of them join one of Mario's famous parties or something. :( For the MK series, Mona, Dribble, and Spitz would have been good candidates.

I think Wario doesn't include his "friends" to cut costs.

My wish got answered... kinda!

Y'know, if they transplanted the WW-original cast to Rhythm Heaven, I'd be totally ok with that.

No way, WW would suck then. Better to have them just be in both series indefinitely.

Also, Mona's part (a.k.a. the usual "wrestler interview" dialogue, but w/e):

Mona: Tiki tiki tiki desu ka? (a gibberish question)
Wario: Eh ("yeah")
Mona: Eh, sugoi desu ne? ("ooh, that's amazing")
Paparazzi: O-chi mite~ ("show us your power" - I'm guessing)
