What do you consider real difficulty?

I don't consider fake difficulty 'fake', as it still is difficulty. You may call it 'cheap' though.

the vast majority of strange journey has bosses that are bullshit, such as causing berserk to the entire team(which means any member will randomly attack the enemy or party members), bosses that heal themselves automactily each turn, bosses that can use one attack to kill the protagonist(which means gameover), and various other bosses.

There's also normal enemies that can instant kill via hama or some you havent identified yet so you have no idea what element defense will be, and there are others that can reflect physical attacks which of course mean they're useless.

I like challenge of course but sometimes sj is a little too much.

An opponent spamming the same attack over and over on a fighting game is not difficulty. It's ducking annoying.

Looking at you Omega Shenron.

The Land of the Livid Dead from Rayman Origins is much more enjoyable than Champion's Road. At least there are this thing called checkpoints and near-instant respawn.

Why do they even have move like this? :/ I mean, it is useful when you're trying to kill very threatening enemies, but having the main protagonist defeated by it isn't very fun.

I don't like instakill enemies. Especially in RPGs. Like that security drone in Chrono Trigger. He would shoot you down with his Delta Attack or whatever.

Well, the hana thing is also based purely on luck. And you know how (bad) luck is so well-received in many games. Like Mario Party. Or Pokemon.

It's like the developers are laughing or something.

There's this French youtuber named "Joueur du Grenier" who would do critics of rubbish games/consoles. Like in every video, he would say that the developers are sadists that need to pass out their inner pain and hatred over these games.

well its not so bad via light or curse instant death spells since the protag is often protected by it via various armors through the game.

Although to be fair sj is indeed one of the least forgiven smt games as this isnt quite as common in other smt games.

The whole protag dies = game over thing though is because the protag is often the only character you really have in your party, as the other slots are filled by demons you recruit or fuse.

Although certain games dont do that either though like smt iv, devil survivor games, and im sure there are others.

When you aren't dying or getting hit due to terrible physics, hit detection or glitches. Also, when the game is actually testing your skills, and not playing tricks on you and consisting everything on trial and error.

I WANNA BE THE GUY is a great example of fake difficulty.

Games where what you're trying to do is possible, but you'll need to be clever or skilled to accomplish it.

Idk why you all are complaining about minor stuff though. We should be talking about games that challenge you with their difficulty!

Part of the fun of many games is how they challenge you to better yourself and so when you finally achieve your goal, it feels really satsifying.

idk man i feel pretty satisfyed when i beat any boss in the smt series outside of the first boss anyway.

that complaint about sj though is that bosses seem really unfair in the game, despite the game having almost everything good, the later bosses just feel like bullshit.

When I think real Difficulty, I think about the Pikmin series.

Mostly because you are pressured to get as much done in every day, which is only like 15 minutes long. You have to strategize and figure out the best way to get everything done, while also dealing with the harsh environment as well as the enemies that all have their own way to be defeated. It's not based on luck but your own wits. It's difficult in the way of performing all these actions while avoiding the death of your little guys and getting the tasks done.

Plus, it's less about just how well you time things. The environment may be slightly different, and in the case of Pikmin 2, may have even changed the way things are set up. It's not like you have to make sure that you press A or go do this at this exact time. And I really love the series for that.
