iPhone 3G text alert problem (solved)

What happened to the message icon with the little cell phone

Anyway, when I get a new text on this thing, it keeps alerting me every so often until I check it

In a similar fashion to an alarm clock

I need this to not happen because I have an extremely obnoxious text tone
