I consider it 3rd Party.
I have no idea why it gets special treatment from Nintendo as though it is 2nd Party (like coverage as part of the main Nintendo Directs, rights to so many characters, and more). Maybe its because Smash Bros is the number 2 system seller for all recent Nintendo Consoles (First is Mario Kart) and Nintendo really doesn't want to lose Sora 3rd Party support.
Do I have as misconception down my mind? Am I wrong without even knowing it?

no.
But there are other 3rd Parties that only make games for a specific console too.
Rareware only made games for Nintendo in the Nintendo 64 era but they apparently had the autonomy to sell out to microsoft.

Sakurai is a friend of Iwata's. Both of them were a part of HAL Laboratory. Sora Ltd. is Sakurai's company.
