I'd say about as luck based as 1 and 9.

It's not known as the series that ruins friendships for nothing.

Well it's like any board games in general. But there are several twists so that you can balance the luck to your favor, which, in previous Mario Parties, is winning the minigames and buying items. That's a feasible strategy to win in a luck-based game.
However, Mario Party 9 and beyond ----s on that concept.

Exchange all coins and stars.
Watch all that work you put in minigames and planning go down the drain in an instant.

You know there's something wrong with Fortune/Chance spaces when you'd want to avoid them even more than you want to avoid Bowser Spaces.
Baby Luigi said:Nah, Mario Party 4's Bowser space nightmare fuel isn't as bad as the nightmares chance time causes

It's ND Cube, the maker of Wii Party. They have already tarnished themselves before the coming of Mario Party 9.Armin Arlert said:Seadramon said:When was Mario Party ever not absurdly luck-based?

What if...
What if Nintendo realized that by the time Mario Party 8 and DS came out that they ruined all friendships, and so they made Mario Party 9, Island Tour, and 10 just to ruin the friendship of the player and the company? :P
No, I imagine it to be super luck based. Like, no doubt that you could be losing the entire time and then the last boss battle making a sudden comeback, while every other player that worked their butt off loses because of a misclick or a roll of a bad number.
