I think 4+2/3 (2/3 is Squirtle and Ivysaur), and Snake and Lucas and 2 more surprise cuts.
 
I would not care if Snake is cut, because he is third party and all, nor would I care if Squirtle ad Ivysaur gets cut, since when I use Pokémon Trainer, I just switch to Charizard. However, I pretty much would like to think that no one else would get cut, especially Captain Falcon and the Mother kids.
 
Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Snake I can bet on getting cut.
 
Snake, Squirtle, and Ivysaur are the only definite cuts I think.

Lucas and Wolf could really go either way. I think one of these two will come back.

but anyway i dont think there will be too many, probably snake and possibly rob but thats all i can think of atm.
 
i was really hoping snake'd be in this one, but doesn't look good, so he's a cut

falcon i really can't see being left out, he's a keeper

mr gaymanwatch doesn't seem likely at the moment, but we'll see

wolf's a good character, but i can see him being cut

and yeah, ivy and squirtle are most definitely cut
 
I think the only reason Falcon would be cut is if Nintendo finally announces they're canning the F-Zero series once and for all.

And even then, we still got Ice Climbers and the Earthbound duo in Brawl.

I'm not worried.

And yet all four of those characters you just mentioned has not been confirmed yet for SSB4.
And I thought that those would have been confirmed months ago.
 
we've still got three months until the japanese release, and if any of them are unlockable they probably won't be revealed until after release. there's no need to worry about obvious veterans getting cut yet
 
LUCAS IS NOT GETTING CUT FOR F*CK'S SAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The only cuts will be Squirtle, Ivysaur and Snake. Mark my words.
 
Oh yeah and the only characters that I'm certain are getting the boot and Squirtle and Ivysaur. Maybe Snake and Lucas (Gematsu likely being real puts him in danger). Everyone else I think is pretty safe at this point.
 
Nobody though that Mewtwo would be cut in Brawl. But it happened. Ness was considered for cut in Melee. Jigglypuff was almost cut in Brawl. According to Gematsu, Ness was considered for cut again in 4.

On Mewtwo, he was cut because of Time Constraints. They couldn't finish him before the game was to be released. Some people say that most of the Forbidden 7 didn't make it because of Sonic's inclusion. And even though I'm probably a bit biased on this. I would of rather had the most wanted 3rd Party character then any of the characters in the Forbidden 7.

The thing about Ness. Is that no matter how many times you bring up that he's been brought up for being cut. The simple fact against it is: He wasn't. Whether it was through sheer luck or other factors. Ness has remained in every game of the series due to Mother's 3 Delay during Melee's development. And even when we all thought he was replaced in Brawl ("Up until now" anyone?) we found out he was in anyway near the game's Japanese release. I think now the shoe's on the other foot between Ness and Lucas. Ness is the longstanding veteran and even has his game on the Wii U virtual console. Lucas is the one in doubt now should Earthbound go down in one rep. More people will miss Ness then there will for Lucas simply because of how long Ness has been in the series. I would rather both stay, but if push comes to shove. I think Ness has earned the permanent Earthbound slot.
 
The Forbidden 7 were the following:

Mewtwo
Roy
Dr. Mario
Dixie Kong
Toon Zelda and Tetra or Toon Shiek (Counts as 2)
and a mysterious file called Pra_Mai which most say would have been Plusle & Minun from Pokemon. Would probably be a mix between Pichu and Ice Climbers
