My Nintendo 3DS XL randomly shuts off

Sometimes, when I go out, I leave my 3DS in my bag. Well, I'm currently in Greece so it can get really hot out.
So, I'm attempting to play Animal Crossing: New Leaf, setting down the last of the path, and it just shuts off. (With Mario Kart 7, I got a blue screen.) I decided to try again, ignoring Resetti, and setting down the last bit of path again. It shuts off.
Do you know what's wrong with my 3DS XL? Or does it just hate racing and paths?
 
Just to be sure, are you certain it didn't run out of battery?

If you are, then it's possible that battery is damaged. Does it still turn off when it is plugged into the charger, or does it only happen when you're out on the go?

It was full charged. It didn't happen while it was charging. The battery wasn't damaged, but it got loose and went out of place.
I know this because I went off and fixed it.
 
Sounds like an overheating problem. If you left your 3DS in the bag in really hot conditions, you could damage the battery as well.

It's working alrght now, but if I need a new battery, I'll go get one.
