How can I stop Melba from moving? (Animal Crossing topic)

So for two days, the animals in my town have been talking about Melba wanting to move out. Yet everytime I talk to her, she doesn't bring it up.

I know that if the animal themselves tell you about moving out, you're given a choice to let them go or ask them to stay and if you do let them go, you're given a chance to everyday they're still in town to talk them out of it. Sadly, this was not the case. I haven't been given an opportunity to persuade her to stay.

Any ideas on what happened?
 
Try talking to her more and giving her a gift or thirty.
 
They only ask about it if they come to you. So just linger around her and wait for her to do the prompt thing and she may mention it.
