How many newcomers do you think there will be?

Magikrazy

Donkey Kong
There are 11 newcomers confirmed as of this post.

How many more do you think there will be?

My roster has room for 6 more newcomers.

Well we have 36 characters so far.

Here are the veterans I think are practically returning for sure: Ness, Jigglypuff, Mr. Game and Watch, Falco, Ice Climbers, Ganondorf, Wario, and Meta Knight. That makes 44

And I think at least one of Wolf or Lucas, possibly ROB will return too. So that makes it 45-47.

so anyway between 1-5 more (12-16 Newcomers) if the roster is an even 50. 6 or more (17+ Newcomers) if it goes beyond 50.

Ice Climbers aren't really that safe of a bet on returning. Sakurai has stated that he is having trouble programming them into the 3DS version. In addition, they have seem to become a popular choice of leaks for predicting who will be cut. We have to acknowledge that we are around the point where leaks start to run around which gives all these leaks a very small chance of being true. If any of those leaks are true, he gets cut.

1. Having troubles with them actually means that they are indeed set to return. They should figure out by now since they also manage to get Rosalina and Luma in the game.

2. Popular? You're the first person who predicts their cuts. But then again, you're a cut happy bastard anyway.

I've seen a bunch of people post leaks that they have read on the Gamefaqs forums for other people to see. A lot of them say Ice Climbers are cut.

1. Rosalina & Luma exist. And to a lesser extent Olimar and the Pikmin.

2. That article meant Sakurai has been trying to program the Ice Climbers. I'd say that confirms them more then says they won't be in. Cause if Rosalina & Luma works. Then I think the Ice Climbers can too.

Rosalina and Luma are much simpler than the Ice Climbers.

I think they're in but I won't act like they're 100% guaranteed.

Meh I disagree. I think they're equally tough to program.

There are people on SmashBoards who can explain it better than I can. From what I've seen, Luma has no AI while Nana does. Desynching opens up a world of complications.

Those posts sometimes had sources of their own with links to other websites

Olimar and Rosalina are easier to program because they are a Character and Puppets rather than a Character and another Character.

Luma has an AI though. Just probably less complex than Nana.

Those sites are probably not very good sources either. There are many fake Smash leaks that come across every day. The only one that actually managed to get some sort of credibility was the Gematsu leak. But even that became questionable after Robin and Lucina's reveal.

Note: If a leak begins with "I work at Nintendo and/or I know a family member/friend who works at Nintendo" it's pretty much 100% fake just from that alone.

Sorry for the Double Post. But also look who's an enemy in Smash Run:

They wouldn't include the Polar Bears as an enemy on Smash Run if Ice Climbers weren't going to be playable.

Villager confirmed for Brawl.

That was an Assist Trophy. Assist Trophies in Brawl could come from franchises that weren't going to have a character already. Completely different story.

Smash Run enemies are different. The only enemies so far in Smash Run that don't have a confirmed character yet of their franchise (besides of course the returning enemies from Subspace. Even then that kinda makes them Smash Bros. reps, the Mii Fighters have the Smash symbol. So in an odd sort of way they could still count) are the Sneaky Spirits. But that could be a clue that Chorus Men or a Rhythm Heaven representative will be revealed in the future.

I thought they already confirmed Polar Bears.

I know they've been confirmed already, I was just showing the Polar Bears that because we already know they'll be enemies in Smash Run. Their presence in Smash Run with a whole lot of other franchises with playable character enemies makes Ice Climbers return more then likely.
