I'm personally not that into Super Mario 3D World.

I'm not a troll or anything. I just wanted to get this out there as I haven't been able to tell anybody. I don't know what I don't like about it. I don't hate it, but it's far from a great Mario game in my opinion. My favorite levels in the game are the Captain Toad levels. I just find it boring compared to the other Mario games.

The Mario franchise hasn't made a good platform game in years upon years so I hear you.

That's totally fine to have an unpopular opinion! As long it's valid and you're reasonable with it, you can dislike any game you please. Everyone has different tastes and we all need to learn to respect other people's tastes and opinions

I disagree with you, I think Super Mario 3D World is one of the far better 3D Mario platformers. I find it very fun and much better than Galaxy 2. The multiplayer mechanic sells it for me.

I wouldn't say that. I just not into this one, I feel like the other ones are still fun.

The thing is I don't really know what bores me about it. It's okay to me, but I don't get the same joy that I get when I play most other Mario games. I was so excited for it. Maybe I was overhyped and when I was playing it didn't live up to it.

Well that's the same thing I felt about Galaxy 2. I expected WAY too much of it and in return I was massively disappointed by it.

By the way, it's not good to double post, just edit your post.

That's okay. We sometimes don't know what bores us about certain things, it's perfectly normal.

Also, just saying your opinion isn't being a troll. If you shove it down our throats and call other people's opinions invalid, then you're being a troll (or you're over-reacting. one of the two).

I just needed to say I wasn't a troll as some may have thought I was a troll for saying I hate a popular game.

Not really

No one batted an eyelid when I said I despised Galaxy 2, when everyone said they praised it (well maybe except for a few butthurt Galaxy 2 fanboys). As long as your reasons are valid and strong, and is posted intelligently, we won't have a problem with it.

No, not really. If you say your opinion, you're not being a troll. People who say that either are kidding around or don't know what they're talking about.

I share your opinion, pal! I don't find Super Mario 3D World a spectacular game either. In my opinion, it doesn't deserve a 9/10. It's way too safe, especially considering how Nintendo is supposed to be the "creative" type. It's not as unimaginative as Super Mario Galaxy 2 (again IMO), but it still falls short of an amazing game.

I thought it was great, not the best but well worth the time I put into 100%ing it.

I enjoyed it and it's certainly a step up from 3D Land, but it doesn't come close to how much I enjoyed Mario 64/DS and both Galaxy games (Super Mario Sunshine, while I haven't played enough of it to judge it completely, looks to be a bit more enjoyable as well)

I think they really should've stuck with the star-collecting formula from past 3D Mario games, not the NSMB-turned-3D formula from 3D Land. It gives more of an exploration feel, searching for a valuable item that is relevant to the story, rather than going from point A to point B.

May I also point out that from videos of World Crown I decided it wasn't worth the rage to 100%, especially for someone with anger problems like me. The only 3D Mario games I've 100%'d are Mario 64, Mario Galaxy and Mario 64 DS. I unlocked Grandmaster Galaxy in Galaxy 2 but never beat the perfect run. But some of those damn green stars in 3D World (particularly that one where you have to light the torches in the forest to get them) made me decide to give it a rest. I might try again one day, but for now I just goof off or replay my favorite levels when I play the game.

You can play World Crown to celebrate (curse more like it) terrible level design in the guise of difficulty.

Seriously, that's a thing with the developers of Super Mario Galaxy. They think stringing a long level of tiny, incoherent, floating blocks, add some hazards here and there, and have no checkpoints or powerups is the best way to make a level hard.

Any level can be hard with that kind of combination in a Mario game. Little thought went into these levels other than "OMG it's hard".

Sometimes I do things to see how my emotions would randomly shift. Like I'm on World 5. In the last battle of World 4, I went from just about throwing the GamePad at the screen to laying on the floor in tears because I died again. (EDIT: Not nessecarily on the floor in tears, but I began crying. After that, I also began crying about my dead bird who died 3 months ago. I hate myself)

So, I'm attempting to get to the Perfect Run for who knows why. I also haven't seen any walkthroughs of it, so I wonder how tough it really is

Its a lost levels type of difficulty and frustration, though amusingly not as stupidly designed.

Wait, Stargazing, what game are you playing?

And if Super Mario games are making you recall your dead bird, you should stop playing those games. :'(

Lost Levels? Um, not sure if I follow.

SMB the lost levels, the direct follow up to the original SMB. Its known for being stupidly difficult to the point of madness. Its biggest, longest lasting addition to the franchise is the invention of the poison mushroom.

the game that fucks up my childhood. if you mean right now i'm not playing anything

Super Mario games aren't really the issue. I began crying and turned off the game, and I realized I sounded like my brother at the birds "funeral", and then I remembered how much I miss the bird.

My grandma was seriously concered when she came downstairs though

smb lost levels however isnt a good game, because the difficulty actually comes from stupid level design, retarded jump requirements and im pretty sure there was a wind effect that was far worse than dkc2's wind effect.

as far as super mario 3d world goes though i think it looks quite good, the fact that luigi, peach, and rosalina are playable just makes me want to play it more.

I also liked super mario 3d land quite a bit so i bet ill like this too.

Although its not my dream 3d mario game though, as 3d world is still stupidly linear.

And Luigi jumping higher than Mario.

Ah yes, forgot about that.

3D World is good but does not reach the level of the Galaxy games. Mainly because levels are a race to the flagpole. The star system was better in galaxy, it has more open world, more diverse missions thanks to comets, a good gravity gimmick, and has an amazing soundtrack.
